What are your favorite letters in names?

Does there seem to be a letter that’s in all of your favorite names? Or maybe multiple letters? I was just thinking about this and was wondering if anyone else had noticed something similar in their name list.

Nearly all of my favorite names have an “M” or an “R” in them. Coincidentally, “M” and “R” are two of the most prominent letters in my name. My first name is [name]Emily[/name], and my surname has a heavy “R” sound in it. I wonder if I gravitate toward “M” and “R” because I’m so familiar with them, if that makes sense.

Any thoughts?

It seems like a lot of my most favorite names have I’s in them…but then again, the letter I is in a ton of names…

I love E names and I names. Not sure why.

[name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Emmerson[/name]
[name]Elijah[/name]
[name]Emmy[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Eli[/name]
[name]Ellie[/name]

[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name]
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Irving[/name]
[name]Irene[/name]
[name]Isolde[/name]

I don’t have an I in any of my names, and while I have the letter E in my names, they either make the hard E sound, or they are a schwa. I seem to drift to the soft E sound.

Interesting.

I love E names, but I don’t like any of my children to have the same letter first name, so since my eldest is [name]Eliska[/name], I can’t use any more as fn’s.

I also like:

[name]Ekaterina[/name]
[name]Elora[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Eleanora[/name]
[name]Elara[/name]
[name]Emily[/name]
[name]Eden[/name]

[name]Edgar[/name]
[name]Elliot[/name]

[name]Bree[/name]

I think the letter “A” has so many options.

I tend to gravitate toward “C” girls’ names: [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name].
And for boys’ names, I go toward the “J” names: [name]Jack[/name], [name]James[/name], [name]John[/name].

L and V
There are a handful of name I like that don’t include those, but almost all the names I love include one or both.

I’m with you; I love ‘M’ names, also 'A’s…see my faves

I [name]LOVE[/name] E names especially [name]Em[/name] names.

Nearly all my favourite names has either “O” or “U” in them. There’s a lot of “E”, “I” and “L”'s as well. Apart from “U” they are all in my first and last name. I have always been very protective of the letter “O”, I think it is because my sister told me it was the ugliest letter once when I was little…

I seem to avoid the letter “A” which is a bit unusual.

Ls, Ts, Js…Oh, and Ss. I absolutely love the letter S and I don’t know why.

My favorite girl names tend to end with A or contain one or more Rs. Boy names tend to contain one or more Os or Rs. Guess I like the letter R a lot for some reason.

I have love the letter A (which is ironic because neither of my girls has a name that starts with the letter A). I also like Ys in a name. Maybe because my name is [name]Amy[/name]…IDK. For boys…I tend to like names where the letter E appears a lot (not necessarily the first letter though). And the letter R appears a lot in my boy names.

I love E’s and I’s. I also like names that have a bit of a “bounce” like [name]Indigo[/name] and [name]Katinka[/name].

If we’re talking about anywhere in the name, the letter ‘e’ is everywhere for me…except my own name. Not until I got married was there an ‘e’ in my name.

I seem like common letters. A, E initials, C, D, L, R, S, V seem to be my favorite.

I strongly dislike the letter P, so no P names for me. And I don’t like names starting with uncommon first letters. Q, U, X, Y, Z. But I don’t mind any of these letters in the middle of a name.

My children’s names all start with a vowel and have a strong l sound in them: [name]Oliver[/name], [name]Annabel[/name], and [name]Elliot[/name]. It’s funny how you don’t always recognize your preferences until a pattern emerges!

I love V names. They just sound so spirited to me. Maybe because of V words like vim, vigor, and vivacious.
Favorites are [name]Verity[/name], [name]Vivian[/name], [name]Vale[/name], [name]Vera[/name].

I tend to love names that have a letter, V, in them somewhere – because you have to smile to say it. [name]How[/name] can you not love a name that makes you smile in order to say it?

[name]Silvia[/name]
Silvestra
[name]Vivian[/name] / [name]Viviana[/name]
[name]Eve[/name] / [name]Eva[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Severine[/name]
[name]Vita[/name]
[name]Vincenza[/name]

[name]Giovanni[/name]
[name]Salvatore[/name]
[name]Valerian[/name]
[name]Valerio[/name]
[name]Vincent[/name]

I love the letter Y, but only in names that are supposed to have the letter Y. I hate it when it’s just randomly added to a name that wouldn’t normally have a Y.
