What are your impressions of the name Brooklyn?

What are your impressions of the name [name]Brooklyn[/name] for a girl? I’ve gone back and forth with it but my husband loves it and it’s starting to grow on me. What do you think? Also what mns would you put with it? [name]Brooklyn[/name] [name]Kate[/name] was the first that came to mind. Thanks!

To me, it’s a borough in New [name]York[/name] City, where my grandmother came from and where I ived for a while.

I can see why it has appeal as a name, though. [name]Brooklyn[/name] [name]Kate[/name] is nice.

[name]Brooklyn[/name] is a lot more popular in states other than New [name]York[/name] and nearby states such as New [name]Jersey[/name].

My honest opinion is that [name]Brooklyn[/name] sounds nice if you like names that end with “lynn” or “in” but unless you have a connection to [name]Brooklyn[/name] it sounds contrived. I also think people relate it it Posh Spice so it might seem like you’re emulating a celeb.

If you like it enough to overlook the criticism of this name then you should go for it no matter what people say. I think [name]Brooklyn[/name] [name]Kate[/name] sounds nice, I think [name]Brooklyn[/name] [name]Eve[/name] would be nice as well.

If I’m being honest, it sounds a little white trash to me. But that might be just because the only [name]Brooklyn[/name] I’ve ever known was like that.

I think it’s cute, and we considered it as a mn for our daughter, because my sister lives in [name]Brooklyn[/name] and her mn is [name]Lynn[/name]. [name]Brooklyn[/name] [name]Kate[/name] is cute.

To be totally honest, I think it’s very tacky. It’s all place to me and it doesn’t sound like a name for a sophisticated world traveler or CEO. [name]Brooke[/name] is fine, [name]Lynn[/name] is fine, but I don’t like the two together. It’s rather popular, though, so plenty of people disagree with me.

I like it! I’d only really use it as a middle name and I conscidered it as an honoree name instead of just plain [name]Brooke[/name] which is a bit of a filler name.

As someone from [name]Brooklyn[/name], this is a pet peeve name for me. I don’t like place names in general. I might use one as a middle name if it had really special meaning for me. I love [name]Brooklyn[/name] (the place), but it isn’t especially beautiful…and if it’s urban toughness you’re hoping to pass on to your kid I think [name]Bronx[/name] might be a better choice. I think if you found out you were pregnant while visiting here or something maybe it could be a cute middle…but even then I think some of the street names or neighborhood names are more unique and prettier. If you’ve never been here how do you know if you want to name your kid after the place? I think it’s trendy as well. At least it’s better than [name]Camden[/name] which is a city in NJ outside of [name]Philly[/name]!
I think [name]Brook[/name] or [name]Brooke[/name] is nice.
I think [name]Lynn[/name] is nice.
[name]Brooklyn[/name] bothers me to no end. It makes me think of Toddlers in Tiaras or someone trying to pick a name with a tough image.

I don’t like it. I agree with the poster that said it feels white trashy.
