I always love hearing what people’s pets are named! I’ll start:
Dogs:
[name]Snow[/name] white lab named Dutch (my husband selected this after [name]Ronald[/name] [name]Reagan[/name]'s nickname as a child).
[name]Light[/name] brown and white Pit Bull named [name]Emmaline[/name]
Cats:
[name]Orange[/name] tabby named [name]Oscar[/name]
[name]Black[/name] and white spotted cat named [name]Delilah[/name]
I [name]LOVE[/name] naming animals Can’t wait to hear yours!
Jeffrietta - a tame conure parrot (initially named"[name]Jeffrey[/name]," but renamed Jeffrietta after laying an egg), nn Jiffy
[name]Peter[/name] - tame blue parakeet
Dog & [name]Cat[/name] (current family pets):
[name]Misty[/name] – Shetland Sheepdog, named by family consensus (My older son and my daughter argue over what her ‘full name’ is. He insists her full name is [name]Misty[/name] Puppers [name]May[/name]; while my daughter insists it is [name]Misty[/name] [name]May[/name]-[name]April[/name] [sounds like “Maypril” - since the dog was born in [name]April[/name], and we got her in [name]May[/name].])
[name]Star[/name] – orange tabby cat, named by our kids
Two cats, tortoise coloured, lovely browns and blacks an whites all up in eachother:
[name]Cleopatra[/name], always called [name]Cleo[/name] is the eldest and is most definitely a [name]Queen[/name]!
Salt, her baby girl now all grown up had a brother named [name]Pepper[/name] and was a LOT lighter when she was little. I call her Salty-Salt sometimes and her mum can be really mean to her. She’s the most loveable of them since [name]Cleo[/name] fell in an oil tank when she was young and we had to [name]Wash[/name] her. She’s never been the same, and she doesn’t really like people unless they follow her terms! (like I said: a [name]Queen[/name])
[name]Cleo[/name] had a kitten we had to give away:
Piffi - Fluffy, orange and white. There’s a spicemix in Norway called Piffi (which has the same orange colour the cat had), so it was a nod to older siblings Salt and [name]Pepper[/name].
[name]Pepper[/name] - black with some white spots. Now called [name]Charlie[/name] and lives with one of my brothers classmates
And Salt’s first three:
[name]Sugar[/name] - Super fluffy and a mix of peach and white fur (yes, peach) [name]Sugar[/name] in Norwegian is ‘Sukker’ so that’s technically what we called him/her
Raisin - The spitting image of her mum, lot’s of grey, white and some brown spots. When my younger brother was a baby he called raisins ‘[name]Lilly[/name]’ because my mum always called them ‘lille rosin’ (which means ‘little raisin’). We called Raisin the cat [name]Lilly[/name] at times as well
[name]Cinnamon[/name] - Fluffy, orange and white like Spice (although in Norway he/she was Kanel which is the Norwegian word for [name]Cinnamon[/name])
[name]Hazel[/name] - [name]Brown[/name] and white [name]German[/name] Short Haired Pointer dog. She came with the name, I didn’t like it at first but she responded to it and it grew on me.
[name]Joey[/name] - long hair black and white “tuxedo” cat. He is named after a college football quarterback that my husband liked. Fits him very well!
I live on a farm with a lot of animals, so I’ll just say the ones that are my pets that I’ve named.
[name]Pippin[/name]- A cream colored miniature dachsund with one blue eye and one brown eye. Named after the hobbit.
[name]Simon[/name] - A tabby cat I got when I was four. My aunt had found him under her house and named him Siren, but I hadn’t liked that name, apparently.
Scooby - A grey and white fluffy cat. He was supposed to be my grandmother’s but he got into to much mischeif for her. And yes, he’s named after Scooby Doo.
Charmer - [name]Grey[/name] and white cat we rescued from a freezing winter. I have no idea why I named her that.
[name]Raphael[/name] - A brown ferret, whom we usually call [name]Ralphie[/name]. Named for the ninja turtle.
[name]Kirby[/name] - A white and blue parakeet, not named after anything in particular, I just liked the name.
[name]Alfred[/name] - A betta fish I just bought a few weeks ago. He’s named after Batman’s butler.
Cats:
*(Persian) Bogey
*([name]Long[/name] hair) [name]Sunny[/name]
*(orange shorthair brothers, 11 mo.)- [name]Walter[/name], Custard & [name]Edgar[/name] (their sister [name]Virginia[/name] nn [name]Ginny[/name] & brother [name]Tony[/name] live with my aunt)
*(8week old gray) [name]Grace[/name]
Dog, white [name]German[/name] shepherd mix- [name]Mackenzie[/name] [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Gray[/name] lionhead rabbit- [name]Hermione[/name]
Feeder fish that survived & is now loved- [name]Nemo[/name]
[name]African[/name] spurred tortoises- Shredder, [name]Bentley[/name] & [name]Sampson[/name]
Desert tortoises- [name]George[/name] (girl…named before we could tell), [name]Sonora[/name], [name]Autumn[/name], [name]Casey[/name] [name]Jones[/name]. [name]George[/name] & [name]Casey[/name]'s kids- [name]Ronnie[/name], [name]Zion[/name], [name]Bryce[/name], [name]Emmanuel[/name], Sprout.
Turtles- Mr. T (nn Terminator), [name]Donatella[/name] nn [name]Dona[/name], [name]April[/name], [name]Michelangelo[/name], [name]Raphael[/name], Master Splinter, [name]Leonardo[/name] (girl…again too soon. nn [name]Leo[/name]), Spike, Sydne (named after old owner), Squirt, Spike [name]Jr[/name].
We have a 3 year old [name]Jack[/name] [name]Russel[/name] named [name]Olive[/name]. I really want to get another larger female for [name]Olive[/name] to play with and name her [name]Midge[/name].
3 Cats:
Tuppenny (Tuppy). he’s gray. my brother named him when he was 3.
[name]Theodora[/name] ([name]Teddy[/name]) & [name]Pandora[/name] (Panda). they’re from the same litter, [name]Teddy[/name] is a brown tabby and Pandy is black and white. I named them when I was 12.
I used to have 2 guinea pigs named [name]Isidore[/name] & [name]Algernon[/name]. I named them too, when I was 9.
[name]Lola[/name]- black ‘Cha-weewee’ (Chihuahua Wiener Dog mix) with some minor white spots. Was going to be named [name]Lucy[/name], but didnt fit her personality:)
[name]Zero[/name]- White and [name]Grey[/name] Pomeranian- Terrier Mix. Named after [name]Zero[/name] on Nightmare Before [name]Christmas[/name], hubbys favorite movie.
[name]Nellie[/name]-a beautiful [name]Lynx[/name] Point Siamese adult kitty (a friend suggested the name “[name]Nellie[/name]” when we were trying to name her and we thought it was a good name for her-it suits her indeed!)
[name]Jennings[/name]-a cute, VERY rambunctious 6-month-old tuxedo (black and white) kitten. He’s named after [name]Greg[/name] [name]Jennings[/name], a [name]Green[/name] [name]Bay[/name] Packers’ Football Player. Although we considered other names for him, like “[name]Link[/name]” and “[name]Woodson[/name],” my family and I finally decided that the name [name]Jennings[/name] fitted him the best. And it fits him perfectly! I came up with the name [name]Jennings[/name] for him.
I love both my kitties’ names a lot! I love naming animals in general so very much!
Names of animals I’ve had in the past:
[name]Reggie[/name] White (my beloved tuxedo cat who unfortunately went missing last year; he was also named after a [name]Green[/name] [name]Bay[/name] [name]Packer[/name]'s Football Player; I didn’t come up with his name, another family member did)
[name]Phil[/name] (a betta fish, we all kind of named him)
[name]Rocco[/name] (another betta fish-once again, we all kind of named him)
Lambeau (a tabby cat, and yes, she was named after Lambeau [name]Field[/name]-the [name]Green[/name] [name]Bay[/name] Packers’ Football Stadium…another family member named her)
[name]Dancer[/name] (a calico cat, I think I might have helped come up with her name, I don’t remember)
Anyways, great thread-I am enjoying reading about everyone’s pets’ names! They are all so neat and creative!
We have a female lab/boxer mix named Colville. She has many nicknames including Colvy, Colville H [name]Colbert[/name] de Turd, Butters, H’s and O’s… My [name]MIL[/name] doesn’t think her name is appropriate for a female and calls her [name]Chloe[/name]. I am sure we have a very confused dog.
I have a beagle x basset hound mix named Hershey; he came with the name when we adopted him. He’s black/white/brown, so the name fits the chocolatey colours.
My gorgeous 3 1/2 year old calico cat is named [name]Princess[/name] [name]Fiona[/name]. My mom suggested it as a joke and somehow it stuck, but it totally fits her personality. She’s a sweetheart during the day, such a princess, but when she was a kitten she would run around crazy at night, very ogre-like, being mischievous. We call her “[name]Fee[/name]” or “[name]Fifi[/name]” for short.
[name]Male[/name] orange tabby: [name]Louis[/name] (as in louie, not lewis)
aka Boo.
Female tuxedo: [name]Isabella[/name]
aka [name]Izzy[/name] (she was too clumsy for such an elegant name)
Female tortie: Technically [name]Eleanor[/name], but shortened to [name]Ella[/name]
Female dilute orange tabby: Technically [name]Charlotte[/name], but has always been [name]Lottie[/name].
Female mostly black tortie: [name]Coco[/name] (finally gave up on my royalty theme since I kept shortening the names to accommodate the antics of kittens)
