[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!
Lately, I’ve been growing to love the sweet and simple [name_f]Mary[/name_f] as a name
What vibes does it give off, and what do you think of it?
I do think it sounds a little old-fashioned, and because of how common it is (or at least was in the past) it doesn’t conjure up any super strong images. I didn’t used to think much of it but it’s definitely grown on me recently, I think it’s a really pretty name, and the main reason some people dislike it or say it sounds plain is just because of how overused it is. Although I’d say in recent years it’s been so widely labeled as a “basic” name that people have stopped using it to a certain degree, and I think it’s due for a resurgence.
Has grown on me. [name_f]Pretty[/name_f], simple classic. With right middle name can be gorgeous.
One of the most beautiful and classical names out there! I’m considering using Mary-Elizabeth for my daughter‘s middle name.
Mary-Elizabeth is lovely!
I know, right? [name_f]My[/name_f] partner came up with it as a way of using the name [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] as a middle name for another E name.
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] is charming - solid but sweet, a little quirky these days and unexpected
I love it! [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is up there with [name_f]Jane[/name_f] for me. [name_m]Classic[/name_m], versatile, and has a bit of mystique for being underused now
That’s great!
I agree!
I really warmed to this being used on a little one because of 3 men and a baby and 3 men and a little lady films. Cute & classic.
I love [name_f]Mary[/name_f], she’s sweet yet strong
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] is one of the truly timeless classic names to me and I actually love it! But, I especially love it with a more unexpected middle or even as a double-barrel name!
For instance, I know a [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] and a [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Addison[/name_u] who use their double name and I love both!
It is a good name. I know a number of [name_f]Marys[/name_f] in their 60’s up, but only one under that age. I do prefer [name_f]Maryellen[/name_f] though with the nn [name_f]Polly[/name_f].
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] is perfect!!
A bit simple for my taste, but I think it’s a sweet name! Very well-known, but a child named [name_f]Mary[/name_f] today probably wouldn’t know too many other [name_f]Marys[/name_f], so a bit “unique” in that regard. Also, I like that it’s very versatile and can pair well with lots of middle names, whether they’re more feminine, masculine, or somewhere in between.
I think that as a conceptual name, it’s quite pious. Obviously (and famously) biblical, tied to many historically pious figures, etc.
Though, on a modern woman, it feels like a [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] / [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] / [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] type. It’s so heavily used that it could be anyone!
I think a baby named [name_f]Mary[/name_f] this year though would be a refreshing idea. While [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is historically one of the most popular names, it hasn’t been maintaining its status lately, as has its sisters [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], for examples. [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is an anything-you-make-it name. It could fit onto anyone, but it’s not commonly used in the new generation (it hasn’t cracked the top 100 in my country since 2008)! It’s fun!!
I love [name_f]Mary[/name_f]! For me, it’s a name that could suit any person and therefore doesn’t have one particular vibe. I do have strong religious associations with [name_f]Mary[/name_f], but each wearer makes the name their own. It’s warm and steady to me!
Honestly, it feels a bit boring? I think it’s a sweet name (though never one I’d consider using), but it just feels a little bit lackluster to me. Vibe wise, I think [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is quite literary and studious!
LOVE [name_f]Mary[/name_f] !! [name_u]True[/name_u] classic beauty
