[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]?

Honest opinions welcome. Thanks.

I think its wonderful! So many cute nicknames, like [name_f]Dot[/name_f], [name_f]Dottie[/name_f], [name_f]Dodie[/name_f], [name_f]Dolly[/name_f]! Cute and meaningful and darling

Very old lady name imo…the only [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] I’ve met was my great grandmother, who would have been over 100 now.

It also remains very tied to the [name_m]Wizard[/name_m] of [name_m]Oz[/name_m], which to me (probably only because I never liked the book or films) is a bad thing.

I do however think the NN [name_f]Dot[/name_f] is cute.

Tied to [name_u]Golden[/name_u] Girls and [name_m]Wizard[/name_m] of [name_m]Oz[/name_m]. I do know a [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] who is roughly in her mid-20s, but that doesn’t make the name more usuable to me. I want to like it, but there’s something about it that makes it seem perpetually unappealing.

I think it’s a vintage name that’s on its way to revival. Personally I don’t mind [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] but prefer the sound of [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] and [name_f]Theodora[/name_f].

I want to like it, but it still seems too fusty and old-fashioned to me, unfortunately! I do like [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] okay, but I like [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] even more than that, and simple [name_f]Thea[/name_f] the most of all. I do think [name_f]Thea[/name_f] and [name_f]Dot[/name_f] are adorable nicknames, though.

I automatically think of [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] Zbornack, from [name_u]Golden[/name_u] Girls. I like that though. [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_u]Gale[/name_u] is an afterthought but also a positive association.

That aside, I think [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] is an adorable name. I love the nicknames [name_f]Dot[/name_f] and [name_f]Dottie[/name_f].

I actually like it for the nn potential and I like that it is a classic too.

It still has an old-lady style, but it’s definitely coming back. It’s been rising since 2012, so your [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] will be ahead of the fashion curve.
