What can Jory be short for?

As the title says, what names can have [name_u]Jory[/name_u] as an unexpected nn?

Preferably, I would want the name to go with [name_u]Holden[/name_u] nn [name_m]Hal[/name_m] - I like the literary, vintage feeling of [name_u]Holden[/name_u] with the unexpectedness of [name_m]Hal[/name_m], which is what I’m going for for Jory!!

To me, the idea of little brothers [name_m]Hal[/name_m] and [name_u]Jory[/name_u] are just the sweetest :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Thank you all :green_heart:

[name_u]George[/name_u] - apparently [name_u]Jory[/name_u] is Cornish for [name_u]George[/name_u] so you could use it as a nn for [name_u]George[/name_u] I’d say!

Came here to say this! [name_u]George[/name_u] nn [name_u]Jory[/name_u] totally goes with [name_u]Holden[/name_u] nn [name_m]Hal[/name_m]!

hal and jory are the spunkiest brothers. great choices! :yo-yo:

with holden ‘hal’, i’d opt for jonah. sure, it’s a bit stretchy, but i think it’d be awfully cute! james orson “jory” also came to mind. :teddy_bear:

[name_m]Ah[/name_m] while I do agree that [name_u]Holden[/name_u] and [name_u]George[/name_u] go well together, I’m not too too keen on [name_u]George[/name_u] :frowning: Thank you though, really!!

@emeraldsea
I love the idea of [name_u]Holden[/name_u] and [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] nn [name_m]Hal[/name_m] and Jory!! That’s the sweetest :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
I also adore the idea of [name_u]Holden[/name_u] and J name [name_m]Orson[/name_m], but unfortunately my partner has vetoed my lovely [name_m]Orson[/name_m] :smiling_face_with_tear:

Ooh [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m] is a good idea!!

Perhaps [name_u]Jory[/name_u] could be a nn for [name_m]Joriel[/name_m] or [name_u]Jordan[/name_u]. I can see [name_u]Holden[/name_u] and [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] together, I’m not so sure on [name_m]Joriel[/name_m], but that’s your call! It does have the L sound in common, as well as the O?

[name_m]Giorgio[/name_m]! The Italian form of [name_u]George[/name_u], was my first idea. Maybe a kinda stretchy one for [name_m]Giovanni[/name_m] and [name_u]Jordan[/name_u].

How about [name_u]Holden[/name_u] nn [name_m]Hal[/name_m] and a sister [name_u]Jory[/name_u], short for [name_f]Marjory[/name_f] / [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]!

Maybe [name_m]Joram[/name_m] or [name_m]Joran[/name_m]? These seem to go well with [name_u]Holden[/name_u].
[name_u]Love[/name_u] the nickname [name_m]Hal[/name_m], by the way! Reminds me of [name_u]Prince[/name_u] [name_m]Hal[/name_m] from [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m].

[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was that I’ve only known a female [name_u]Jory[/name_u]! But I think it’s cute for a boy too.

I’d say:

[name_m]Jerome[/name_m]
[name_m]Jorah[/name_m]
[name_u]Jordan[/name_u]

I once knew a girl named [name_m]Jari[/name_m] (Jarri or Jarry?) from [name_u]South[/name_u] [name_f]Africa[/name_f], and that was her complete name. Maybe [name_u]Jori[/name_u] is a full name in some regard?
