What category of boys' names do you like best and why?

  1. The cuddly teddy bear names like [name_m]Chester[/name_m], [name_m]Archie[/name_m], [name_m]Hardy[/name_m]?

  2. The classic names like [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_u]Michael[/name_u]?

  3. The Celtic names like [name_m]Keir[/name_m], [name_m]Lorcan[/name_m], [name_m]Declan[/name_m]?

  4. The common but cool names like [name_m]Jake[/name_m], [name_m]Caden[/name_m], [name_m]Braden[/name_m]?

  5. The romantic names like [name_m]Tarquin[/name_m], [name_m]Rafael[/name_m], [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]?

  6. The international names like [name_m]Carlos[/name_m], [name_m]Pietro[/name_m], [name_m]Kenzo[/name_m]?

  7. Or other category?

I also wonder why we are so adventuresome in our girls’ names and so dull in our boys’ names? There are so many great REAL names out there for boys that are not being used.

I always fall for nature/earthy names when it comes to boys. I love [name_u]Everett[/name_u] (strong as a wild boar) and [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_m]Fox[/name_m].

I’ve always wondered why we go all out for girls names and stick to [name_m]William[/name_m] or [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] for boys. Boys can be elegant and beautiful too!

I am attracted to nature names for boys. Nature names that are not always blatant, although I like a lot of the ones that are obvious also, [name_u]River[/name_u], [name_m]Wolf[/name_m], [name_u]Ash[/name_u], [name_u]Oak[/name_u]/[name_u]Oakley[/name_u]. I seem to be attracted to the softer sounding names.

I guess 7. My boy list is [name_m]Galileo[/name_m], [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m], [name_m]Pluto[/name_m], [name_m]Odin[/name_m], [name_m]Romulus[/name_m], Théoden, [name_m]Casimir[/name_m], [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] and [name_m]Lysander[/name_m]. So I think I’m equally adventurous with my boys as I am with my girls… My daughter’s name is [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f].

I really like names that have a history of usage. That doesn’t mean they need to be popular or had to be popular back in the day but they are definitely not “modern”. My favourites are [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_m]Caspar[/name_m], [name_u]Theo/name_u and [name_m]Jack[/name_m] (atm).

I like classics and names with an earthy, rugged feel for boys. I like boys’ names so much more than girls’ names, and I think I’d be more likely to be adventurous with a son’s name.

My boys’ list is probably most classic (proportionally speaking), but I like a variety of names with a history of usage. I like names that feel smart but not nerdy, a little preppy but not stuffy, and definitely prefer names with non-occupational meanings.

I prefer classic names for use “in real life”. However, I also like nature names like [name_u]River[/name_u] and Celtic names like [name_u]Kieran[/name_u]. Could never use Celtic names with my husband’s last name – would just be odd – and although I think nature names are neat, I don’t think I’d have the guts to actually use one, unless it was as a middle.

My favorite type of boy name are nature themed usually  [name_u]Everett[/name_u], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], and [name_u]Ash[/name_u] just to name a few.

Classics for me.

Perhaps the number one for me? I like soft names for boys. I think I am equally adventurous with both genders (Ha and that is not very)! Girls names I like spunky but not too girly and boys I like a softer name-Like [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m], [name_m]Ralph[/name_m], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]…

Ohh I love almost all of these!

I feel like my favorites don’t really fit into any of these. I feel like, in general, my boys names are strong and masculine, but still on the softer side, many are Biblical, many are surnamey, and quite a few are unisex, and many are influenced by my love for literature, my faith, and my family. I find it ironic that more people take risks with girls’ names, because I feel like, in general, my boys’ list is more risky than my girls list (although I like girls’ names more). I don’t really think I’m terribly adventurous with either gender, though, tbh. [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], [name_u]Everett[/name_u], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_u]Avery[/name_u], [name_m]Grayson[/name_m], [name_m]Zane[/name_m], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], [name_m]Grant[/name_m], [name_m]Brody[/name_m], [name_u]Bailey[/name_u], [name_u]Spencer[/name_u], [name_m]Boaz[/name_m], and [name_m]Asher[/name_m]. It’s a great big mess, honestly, haha, but that’s what I love.

There is a list on here called Yupster baby names and pretty much all of my favorite names are on it. I think the majority of my favorite names are classics. I’m more “adventurous” with boy names. I only like popular classics for girls.

A combo of romantic and international, I think, pretty accurately describes my style of names in general.

I like the uncommon classics

I will use some of your categories but swap some of the names, please don’t kick me.

  1. The classic names like [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], [name_m]John[/name_m]. But I don’t like all of them, I could never get into [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Peter[/name_m], [name_m]Paul[/name_m], [name_m]Timothy[/name_m], or [name_m]Edward[/name_m].

  2. The Celtic names like [name_u]Aidan[/name_u], [name_u]Emmet[/name_u], [name_u]Owen[/name_u]/[name_m]Eoin[/name_m], [name_m]Alastair[/name_m].

  3. The romantic names like [name_m]Rafael[/name_m], [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], [name_m]Lysander[/name_m]

  4. The international names like: [name_u]Ari[/name_u], [name_m]Zvi[/name_m], [name_m]Lazar[/name_m], [name_m]Dmitri[/name_m], [name_m]Ilya[/name_m].

  5. Or other category? I’m very into Biblical names, including some that are very clunky. So aside from ones already mentioned in other categories, I’d break that into two subcategories:
    7a: Biblical Fairly Mainstream: [name_m]Eli[/name_m], [name_m]Joel[/name_m], [name_u]Jesse[/name_u], [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], [name_m]Levi[/name_m], [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m]
    7b: Biblical Clunk: [name_m]Eleazar[/name_m], [name_m]Naphtali[/name_m], [name_m]Zebulon[/name_m], [name_m]Immanuel[/name_m], Elchanan, Ezriel, [name_m]Jethro[/name_m]

is a very cool name.

Honestly, I don’t know what these have in common, other than most of them are short. Lots of namesakes.
