When I first began my obsession with baby names, at about age 10, I wanted 5 boys. I wanted to name them [name]Jonah[/name], [name]Dylan[/name], [name]Brian[/name], [name]Allen[/name] and [name]Aaron[/name]. Since then, I’ve discovered more interesting names (certainly) and realized that 5 boys would be beyond difficult. But I want to know what your favorite names were as a kid and how your choices have matured over time.
I think I was about 15 when I picked these out?
Devonny [name]Brynn[/name] [name]Aurelia[/name]
[name]Danica[/name] [name]Raye[/name] [name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Alec[/name] [name]Adrian[/name] [name]Scott[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name] [name]Daniel[/name] [name]Brent[/name].
Needless to say, my tastes have definitely matured.
I first started to be interested in names when I was about 8.
I liked [name]Alannah[/name] [name]Rose[/name] for a very long time. I still like it, but my tastes have changed
My favourites when I was very young were all the sort of vanilla, popular type of names; a [name]Lily[/name], [name]Grace[/name], and [name]Audrey[/name] type deal. I don’t think I even had any boy names.
From the age of 7/8 I always said I would name my first daughter [name]Elizabeth[/name] which I did! Other girls names I liked were [name]Belle[/name], [name]Anna[/name], [name]Anastasia[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name]. We names our 2nd daughter [name]Annabelle[/name] so I used both [name]Anna[/name] and [name]Belle[/name] in a way! I like the name [name]Lucy[/name] but it’s NMS anymore and obviously [name]Anastasia[/name] and [name]Annabelle[/name] wouldn’t work as siblings.
For boys I liked [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Patrick[/name], [name]Riley[/name], [name]James[/name] and [name]Charlie[/name]. I still like [name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Patrick[/name] but they have both recently been used by people we know. [name]Riley[/name], [name]James[/name] and [name]Charlie[/name] are NMS anymore. Plus my sister named her dog [name]Riley[/name] and [name]James[/name] and [name]Charlie[/name] are names of my husband’s family members!
At about 13 I think girls would have been [name]Riley[/name] or a Mad- name like [name]Madison[/name] or [name]Madelyn[/name]. Boys, [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Dylan[/name] or [name]Sebastian[/name].
When I was about 5/6 I wanted to name my girls [name]Sally[/name] and [name]Robyn[/name]
As a teen I liked the name [name]Storm[/name]. Nome of thesr appeal anymore.
Ooh man. I can’t even remember, since I changed mind every week. What I remember most clearly is that I chose mainly girl names. [name]One[/name] time that stands clear is three girls named [name]Matilda[/name], [name]Amalie[/name] and [name]Emma[/name]. I had read a children book where the heroine was named [name]Amalie[/name] and had two friends named [name]Mathilde[/name] and [name]Emma[/name]. I still think they’re beautiful names, but very unlikely to be the names of my kids. Well, I may surprise myself and name my future daughter [name]Matilda[/name] or [name]Emma[/name].
I’ve loved names since I was about five, but never thought of putting them on real kids until until about middle school. When I was a little girl I liked names like [name]Fiona[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name] & [name]Emmeline[/name] (for my dolls). In middle school I wanted to name my kids [name]Makenna[/name] & [name]Tate[/name] for girls and [name]Liam[/name] & [name]Nathan[/name] for boys. As you can see my taste has changed a lot since then.
I used to love the names [name]Katie[/name], [name]Mackenzie[/name] and [name]Darcy[/name], and more recently my top names were [name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Lilly[/name] and [name]Samuel[/name] [name]Scott[/name] - not bad, but my tastes have definitely changed.
[name]Vesper[/name] and [name]William[/name] were my favorites I think.
When I was 9-12 I liked the names [name]Brittle[/name] (which isn’t actually a name but I liked it), [name]Crystal[/name], [name]Belle[/name], [name]Esme[/name], [name]Emma[/name]/[name]Emmy[/name], [name]Sydney[/name], and [name]Clyde[/name]. I don’t think they’re that bad.
I loved the reruns of Bewitched and I [name]Dream[/name] of [name]Jeannie[/name] when I was a kid, so of course I wanted to name my daughters [name]Samantha[/name] and [name]Jeannie[/name].
[name]Emily[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Rose[/name] were firm favorites. I had fairly eccentric tastes even then: [name]Pamela[/name], [name]Harriet[/name], [name]Lyra[/name], [name]Mariposa[/name], Pavlova, [name]Esmeralda[/name], [name]Irene[/name] (eye-[name]REE[/name]-nee), [name]Nelly[/name], [name]Perdita[/name], [name]Twyla[/name], [name]Kathleen[/name], [name]Sasha[/name], [name]Poppy[/name]. My taste in boys’ names was much more prosaic: [name]Jason[/name], [name]David[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Liam[/name], [name]Christopher[/name]. I did have a thing for [name]Crispin[/name] and [name]Lysander[/name], though.
As a child, I would name all of my dolls [name]Samantha[/name]. Then my sister was born when I was seven, and my parents allowed me to name her [name]Samantha[/name] [name]Ren[/name]ée. For a seven-year-old, I think I did pretty well.
It’s a good thing I didn’t want to name her [name]Rainbow[/name] Sparkles or something. lol
Some of my favorites around age 13 were:
[name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Declan[/name] [name]Avery[/name]
[name]Caleb[/name] [name]Atticus[/name]
etc.
When I was about 8, my favorite name was [name]Clover[/name]. As I got a bit older that changed to [name]Shelby[/name], which I loved forever and do still think is adorable, but probably wouldn’t use since my taste has changed.
I loved [name]Ashley[/name], [name]Lindsay[/name], [name]Marissa[/name], [name]Courtney[/name], [name]Chloe[/name], and [name]Lydia[/name] for girls. I don’t really remember the boys’ names I liked. I remember [name]Kaiden[/name] was one of them. [name]Mason[/name] and [name]Owen[/name], but that’s all I can remember. I think I had a very good taste in names. Now I still like [name]Courtney[/name], [name]Chloe[/name], and [name]Lydia[/name]. [name]Elodie[/name], [name]Celia[/name], [name]Waverly[/name], [name]Vincent[/name], [name]Oliver[/name], and [name]Rylan[/name] are my favorite names.
[name]Jovan[/name] : ) Which now I see as totally eccentric and Old [name]Roman[/name]. I don’t think I liked any girls names, but I had a certain tolerance for [name]Mae[/name] and [name]Stella[/name].
when I was 4 I wanted “rainbow bright-hart” for a girl and “Fishyhead” for a boy …obviously my taste has changed haha!
