Hello!! I’d love some opinions on what you think of when you hear these names. [name_f]Do[/name_f] they sound like good guys? [name_f]Do[/name_f] they connote colors or feelings for you? [name_f]Do[/name_f] they sound nerdy or jockish or … etc? (Our last name is [name_m]Watson[/name_m] and we’re hoping for a boy.)

Okay first off no matter what, you can’t predict what your child is going to be like. It just depends on who he is when he gets older.

That said, all your names I think are versatile enough that they’ll fit most ever personality at most every stage of life. Which I consider extremely important in a name. But these are my first associations. And I do think it’s nice to pick a name that’s associations and feelings match the vibes you consider ideal. Good luck.

[name_m]Bennett[/name_m]: more than anything else now reminds me of a not-so-great character on [name_u]Orange[/name_u] is the [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]Black[/name_m], but is an otherwise fine name
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]: will always adore this, sounds very bouncy and nn [name_m]Ben[/name_m] is great
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m]: bit religious for me, too common, know a lot of [name_m]Dan[/name_m]/[name_u]Danny[/name_u]/[name_m]Daniels[/name_m] and they’re a mixed bunch at best
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]: again, strikes me as too religious for my tastes, and I don’t like the sound or nn [name_m]Ike[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaiah[/name_m]: religious! the most overtly so on your list, and while -ah names seem increasingly trendy I think this will always be one which trips people up with its pronunciation
[name_m]Jonah[/name_m]: while religious, I can see the appeal, along the lines of [name_f]Juno[/name_f] or something similar. Mostly reminds me of the [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] brothers now
[name_m]Joshua[/name_m]: a perennial classic, with a sweet nn [name_m]Josh[/name_m], I think it transcends Biblical connotations
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]: love this one! I like its short-and-sweet style. Of course it reminds me of The Beatles, but that’s no bad thing and I think it works great as a first or middle
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]: not a fan, I think it’s too goody-two-shoes, doesn’t have any decent nn and reminds me of a character from The Inbetweeners (though I doubt anyone outside the UK would see that)
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]: I’m not a fan of its sound, something about the -las is off-putting but beyond [name_m]Silas[/name_m] Marner I don’t connect it to anything
[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]: like [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], a classic boys’ name for a reason, never met a [name_u]Nick[/name_u]/[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] I didn’t like

[name_m]Bennett[/name_m] - I don’t know if you’ve seen the show “The Ranch” where [name_u]Ashton[/name_u] Kutcher plays [name_m]Colt[/name_m] [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]. It’s a great show, it’s hilarious. For that reason, [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] gives me that charming country boy feel.

[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] - The name of a guy I thought I loved. Tall, dark, handsome. A sense of humor like you wouldn’t believe. Fun. Charming. The best smile you’ve ever seen. A little bit wild. Would always go by [name_m]Benji[/name_m].

[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] - I associate this with the kids show “[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_m]Tiger[/name_m].” Such a cute show, and my nephew loves it. I also like the nickname [name_u]Danny[/name_u]. It’s classic, but edgy.

[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] - The whole time my nephew was in the womb this is what we called him. When he popped out, he definitely wasn’t an [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] after all! But still, the memory of that is a sweet one. To me this name feels strong and classic, but current.

[name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] - No associations with this name. I don’t love it but I don’t dislike it either. Feels a little light and airy. There’s no power behind it.

[name_m]Jonah[/name_m] - No associations with this name either. I actually prefer [name_m]Jonas[/name_m].

[name_m]Joshua[/name_m] - In high school I had a crush on a guy named [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] for so long! We eventually dated but it didn’t work out. He’s still my friend to this day, which shows just how nice of a guy he is! Dark hair, blue eyes. The sweetest person you’d ever meet. Would go out of his way to help a friend in a second. Great taste in music. Not so great of a driver.

[name_u]Jude[/name_u] - No associations but I’m not a fan.

[name_m]Simon[/name_m] - Also no associations but I’m not a fan.

[name_m]Silas[/name_m] - Feels like a bad boy name to me. There’s something dark about it.

Nichols - I’ve always considered using this as an honor name down the road, possibly as a middle. It’s sweet, simple, classic, easy.

Haha, yep, I definitely favor religious names (I’m a Catholic). Yeesh, I’d never considered the nn [name_m]Ike[/name_m] coming from [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] but I’m no fan of that either! Thanks for your insight!

I love [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]. I picture an appealing talented fun young guy and it ages well too.

I know it’s been a long time since you posted, but I wanted to share my appreciation for the time you took to consider these possibilities for the name of my child, and to type them out. Well done! I’ll just say, almost every single color you’ve described for each name is different than my own. (EX: for me: [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] = red; [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]/[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] = [name_u]Blue[/name_u]) but for Nicohals, you and I are spot on similar.
