As most of you probably know, I’ve been thinking about [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] a lot lately, and I’m really loving its ties to [name_u]Christmas[/name_u]. I’ve been seriously considering [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] (still really liking both!), but yesterday it occurred to me that using [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] as a middle (more specifically, as a middle for [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]), would solve a lot of problems on my list–I’m still worried LOO-shah “[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]” would get [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], which I’m really not wanting, nor the mispronunciations (I would be happy to hear LOO-shah or loo-CHEE-ah, but I don’t like loo-SEE-ah at all), and while I like [name_u]Lou[/name_u] and [name_f]Lulu[/name_f], I don’t love them like I love the whole package with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and the nns [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f] (I am massively in love with [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] right now, but would I really want a [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]? And honestly, [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] is a perennial 2-year-old. What happens when she doesn’t want to be cutesy [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] anymore? [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]?). Plus, I’ve been generally bored/unhappy with my [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] combo ([name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]), and I do really like the idea of [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f].
Thoughts? I think it’s a great solution, but I’m not sure I want to give up [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] as a FN, either… Would you be happier to meet a little [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] “[name_f]Lottie[/name_f]/[name_f]Lola[/name_f]”, or a [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] “[name_f]Lulu[/name_f]/[name_u]Lou[/name_u]”?
I love both [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] so this one is a toughy for me! The name nerd inside me says go for [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], just because [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is so popular. I think if you did decide to put [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] in the middle for [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], it would balance out the uncommonness of [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]. I see what you mean about [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]/[name_u]Lou[/name_u] - but don’t forget, her friends would probably call her by her full name once she gets to school. [name_u]Lou[/name_u] is more sophisticated to me, and could definitely serve as a lifelong nickname without hesitation. [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] is the only one that seems borderline “childish.” But really, you can still call her whatever nickname you want for as long as you want (because that’s what moms do :P). I honestly think that [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is such a precious gem that you may regret letting her slip through your fingers as a first name. And, eventually, if you ever decided that you don’t like [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] as much, you can always call her by her middle name (or even change it).
I like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] best if you’re pronouncing it “LOO-shah.” [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] repeats the two “shah” sounds right next to each other and makes it rather difficult to say for me. Although [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is more popular right now, I think both are classic enough that it doesn’t matter.
I’m not a massive fan of [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]. Loo-sha and loo-shee-ah are just awkward pns for me, and loo-see-ah sounds slimy despite being my natural reaction. It’s inconsistency puts me off as well, everyone seems to say it differently.
Having said that, I love [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] as a combo and the feeling is sort of ruined when it has a name splitting it up, plus [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is so uncommon where I live. So [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] would be my preference. Loo-sha is probably my favourite pn, and could grow on me if I met one (I love [name_f]Zosia[/name_f]/[name_f]Saoirse[/name_f]/[name_f]Dasha[/name_f] and similar sounding names).
Uh, I forget your current [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] combo. I’ll be happy to meet [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]. [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] is also very lovely, but without LOO-shah pronunciation.
I think both [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] are gorgeous combinations but, even though I think I like [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] a little bit better as a first name, I like the flow of [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] more. Though honestly, I love all three names so much I wouldn’t really care which order you put them in.
I feel like I’m liking [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] more as a combo, but I like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] more up front. Still mulling it around, though, so feel free to keep commenting (and swaying me either way!).
I like [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] or [name_u]Lou[/name_u] better than [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], but I like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] better than [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]. [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] only “flows” for me if [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is pronounced lu-Chee-uh, the [name_f]Lu[/name_f]-shah pronunciation runs together with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. With [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] on the other hand, it doesn’t matter how [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is pronounced, the flow works.
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] is a gorgeous name combo!!! I also love [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]. Cheers
I definitely prefer [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] to [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] ([name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f] are too similar in cadence to be next to each other, imo).
As far as [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] “[name_f]Lottie[/name_f]/[name_f]Lola[/name_f]” vs. [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] “[name_f]Lulu[/name_f]/[name_u]Lou[/name_u]”… I would be thrilled to meet either! [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is one of my favorite names right now too, but I think I prefer the flow of the former. It breaks up the shah-shah.
