I’m pregnant with my third and strongly considering the name Lady. Totally fine with it as an official NN but not finding any full names that suit, and am not a fan of Adelaide (to me, the most natural alignment). Middle name is to be Constance, after my mother. Siblings are Penelope (goes by Poppy) Jane, and Everett Gregory. Alternate names of interest are Margaux, Beatrix, Daphne, Alice, Stella, Vivian (tho latter few are pretty popular and none are as off the beaten path as Lady). Would love to know thoughts! Is it too “out there?”
I grew up with a Lady who chose to go by her middle (Mildred) because she hated it so much so I’d strongly suggest that, if you really want to use it, you give a full name to fall back on if she feels the same way.
Non-Adelaide options that come to mind:
Elladine
Edelweiss
Miladena
Ladonna
Gladiola
Willadean
All of that said, I adore your other options so much more - Daphne and Beatrix especially- that I really haven’t the heart to campaign for the above
I do think it’s a bit unusual and may put some expectations on a child. “Act like a lady” is something many young girls and women hear every day, especially tomboys, and your child may end up enjoying more “masculine” activities. Also, giving titles as names is another story in and of itself. It does seem a bit out of place with your other kids’ names.
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is a gorgeous fit within your sibset, but if you aren’t a fan, I also really like [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. Some other suggestions:
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_u]Louise[/name_u]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Lady[/name_f] could be a very cute family nickname regardless of her actual first name. Good luck and congrats!
I think this is a great suggestion to get to the nickname Lady.
Agreed!! All in all I don’t care for Lady as a first or with her sibling’s names. But it could work as a nickname regardless of first. Ultimately it’s your kid though so do what you feel is right!
[name_f]Lady[/name_f] is a bit much for me, though it has a nice sound
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] “Lady” came to mind
[name_f]Lady[/name_f] is such a dog name for me! Its a great nn/pet name though. I do think its too out there for a legal name.
I would not want to be named [name_f]Lady[/name_f]. [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], and [name_u]Everett[/name_u] all feel like quite regular names in comparison.
I think it’s a kinda cute nickname ,but I personally really wouldn’t use it as a first or middle name, I think a child with that first name would probably be bullied in school
full name ideas:
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] ,Madeline,Madelyn
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_f]Leda[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_u]Ellender[/name_u]
[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]
[name_f]Amandla[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]
[name_f]Melinda[/name_f]
[name_u]Delaney[/name_u]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eluned[/name_f]
I love Margaux,Alice and [name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Lady[/name_f] is more of a cat or dog name to me
If you really want to use it I’d definitely suggest it only as a nickname, especially if your child doesn’t like it when they’re older. If you don’t like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], do you like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] any better? or maybe [name_f]Adela[/name_f]?
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.
It’s not my cup of tea, really. It just feels a bit too word-y. But it is definitely better as a nn. Maybe [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lady[/name_f]? Also, [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] nn [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is so cute! And [name_u]Everett[/name_u] is quite handsome. You’re not too bad at this naming thing so far.
What about [name_f]Layla[/name_f] with a middle name starting with the letter D?
Thank you all for the advice! Seems like a unanimous consensus, which I was sort of expecting. I know 2 people with the name and its worked well for them. But I think i’ll feel more comfortable with a sibset with names that are better aligned. Thanks again for the insight + help!
Adelaide nn Lady is so precious! I adore that!!!
I like Ladybird and [name_f]Madalena[/name_f] for [name_f]Lady[/name_f] full names. If only [name_f]Lady[/name_f] would do I gotta say maybe put it in the middle name slot. Give the kid an out if they need it.
