I think that it depends on your surname and whether or not those ‘l + vowel’ sounds are repeated again. Personally I think that it’s quite lyrical, but would probably prefer the balance of the names reversed: [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Lyla[/name_f]…
I like [name_f]Lila[/name_f], but not [name_f]Lyla[/name_f]. The “y” makes me think of [name_u]Lyle[/name_u], which is 100% male. Pairing it with [name_f]Evalyn[/name_f] makes me suggest the [name_f]Lila[/name_f] spelling even more because of the repeat letters.
I like [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Evalyn[/name_f] would work.
[name_f]Lyla[/name_f] [name_f]Evalyn[/name_f] is a bit of a mouthful, but not unusable at all. I actually prefer [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] to [name_f]Lila[/name_f]. But if you’re still interested in possible alternatives…
Thanks for the input! I prefer [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] to [name_f]Lila[/name_f] because I feel like the spelling “[name_f]Lila[/name_f]” gets mispronounced.
I think it depends on how you say [name_f]Evalyn[/name_f]. If it’s like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] (ev-eh-lin), then [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] [name_f]Evalyn[/name_f] is lovely (although I prefer [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]). If it’s EEV-ah-lin, like [name_f]Eva[/name_f]-[name_u]Lynn[/name_u], then I’m not a fan. I think it’s just harder to say–more strong sounds. I think [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]'s lovely, though, and [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] Sm!th sounds fine.
Thanks everyone! The reason I like the [name_f]Evalyn[/name_f] spelling is because it honors my grandma’s maiden name, [name_m]Evans[/name_m]. It would be pronounced ev-eh-lin.
I prefer the spelling [name_f]Lila[/name_f], but I think it’s nice overall. The flow could maybe be slightly better, but if you love both names then don’t over-think it.
