What do you imagine a Lydia to be like?

What do you think of when you hear the name [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]? What are her interests and personality?

Sweet and elegant.

The first thing that pops into my head: her parents had the sense to give her a nice, classic, solid and attractive name.
But onto her interests and personality.

I imagine [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] as sweet and elegant, like mentioned before. I also imagine her as quite intelligent and I can see [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] having good manners.

[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] is a 9 year old girl, with brown eyes, dark blone hair with a slight curl, rosy cheeks and a lovely smile on her face.
She is a rather quiet person, quite reserved and shy around adults but around kids, her character is as bubbly and fun as can be. She is a reader and her room is full of books, a few are on the shelves but mostly they’re stacked up in piles of all sized around her room. She has a big old chair in which she enjoys the classics which she pick up at the library every sunday.
She also loves to paint and while she isn’t the next [name_m]Picasso[/name_m], she still spends hours in front of the easel she got for [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] and paints pictures that are then being put up all over the house.
During summertime she loves being outside to play crocket, have a picnic with her friends, work on her own little garden or have a barefoot football match with her siblings.
She plays piano but loves it even more to listen to someone playing, she loves period films and series and while she wishes she could stay home from school to read everyday, she still enjoys learning new things.
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] also really loves baking and when she and her siblings take over the kitchen, it usually ends in a big flour-y mess and a very yummy cake.
During the holidays, her favourite thing is to go swimming in the sea and staying up very late to listen to stories or make up her own.
When she’s in a bad temper, it’s usually because sombody upset her or because certain things don’t go her way and then she lies on her bed with crossed arms and is mad at the world until her mum or dad come in to give her a big hug and pick her up to carry her into the living room where she gets tickled by her siblings.

[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] seems like a sweet, prim, put-together kind of girl. Thoughtful and smart.

Elegant, compassionate and willing to lend a hand, she has a big heart and is always willing to help others.

I love the name [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]. Unfortunately SO has already vetoed it :frowning: Anyway, I picture a sweet little two year old, very well dressed, brown hair (though not too dark) in little plaits each side of her head. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though she’s sweet and classical, she has a devious little look on her face!

I know a young woman named [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]. Very intelligent, musical, and stylish. All [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]'s will be different, but it is a lovely name. If you’ve ever seen, " The [name_u]Philadelphia[/name_u] [name_u]Story[/name_u]", you will remember the song, “[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] the Tattooed Lady”, very funny.

When I hear [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], I think of [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] from Pride & Prejudice. So I see a pretty girl, naive, young, gossiper, who is a bit silly. She’s mischievous and loves to have fun.

Maybe because of the movie Beetlejuice I always think a [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] would have dark hair and be very goth. I think it’s a very pretty name and if I had ever met a real life [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] my perceptions would probably change, but as of right now that’s all I can picture. Sorry I can’t be of more help

Independent, strong-willed, thoughtful and a little feisty. Probably musical with her own sense of style.

I love [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]! I vacillate between a girl I knew in high school with the name–who was Puerto Rican, had no interest in school (or really anything serious), and I really didn’t find to be flattering in any way (I’m sad to say). She might have been a nice person, but I found her loud and obnoxious and skin-deep, and I didn’t particularly enjoy her. But the other [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] I have a tie to is one of my former supervisor’s daughters–and I never met her in person, but she sounds adorable, from his descriptions, and so I’ve just sort of imagined what she’s like, and see [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] more like her–a nine-year-old with savvy and style, intelligence and self-confidence. She is taking piano and dance lessons, loves her mom, and has a very good head on her shoulders, even from a young age. She’s feminine and sweet and smart and happy and curious. And well-loved. Her dad is one of the most intelligent and thought-out people I know, who genuinely cares about the people around him and has such a dry, bitter sense of sarcasm that most people sort of cower in fear at him, haha. They really don’t know when he’s joking and being serious, but he has a serious soft side (especially where his wife is concerned!), and is a really good guy, even though he’s extremely hard on himself (way more than he should be!). I sort of envision [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] to be the best of [name_u]Nick[/name_u], with the sweetness of an adorable, precocious, curious little girl with a huge love for the arts.

I don’t know any Lydias aside from myself, so it’s hard to imagine what other Lydia’s would be like. Some of the descriptions here are similar to me and I have had people tell me I am what they “imagine a [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] to be like” . Generally people describe my style and mannerisms as classy and/or elegant, but the people I am close to know I’m also a bit quirky and spontaneous. I love old books, vintage tea parties, baking, ballet, watercolor, collecting seashells, and handwritten letters. I have always loved animals and as a child I used to bury and sing to the little birds that died during springtime on the farm. I worked in academic research for 7 years. I am now working on my MD. However, I would consider myself to have more of an artistic/creative mind than an analytical mind. I was born with blonde hair which darkened to light brown during my teenage years. I have blue eyes with a yellow-brown sunburst color in the center, I am slightly taller than average and slender.
I have struggled to overcome excessive shyness and I also struggle to control my emotions at times. I cry easily, and when I’m sad, I am very sad. However, I would say that I am resilient and I am someone that never gives up.
I’m sure there are lots of other wonderful ways to be a [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] too, in my opinion it would be a great name for anyone. I do think many people immediately think of [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] from Beetlejuice, Pride and prejudice, or the [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] from the video game (Skyrim I think?)… They are a bit different from me but all great characters too!! In the end, I think [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] could be a wonderful name for anyone, but of course I am biased!!! :two_hearts:

I picture [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] as classically beautiful and intelligent, artistic, capable, strong and strong-willed. I’d like to be friends with her!

[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] makes me think of someone elegant and classy. As a child, she is pretty and intelligent. [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] is a lovely name.

With my weird name [name_f]Imagery[/name_f]:

[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] would have dark-ish, gingery brown hair. She likes pink, especially the dustier, more muted shades. She comes across as sweet and delicate at first, but when you get to know her, her pages open up, revealing a whimsical, yet dark, fairytale.

She used to live a normal, peaceful life, until strange things started to happen (whatever that would be). Lydia’s life became a mystery, a mystery she so desperately wanted to solve. She gets a step closer each day.

Her personality is warm and curious, with a desire to help others. She sometimes gets into trouble, but she can work her way out of it just as quickly as she got into it.

This may be too excessive, but it’s what came to mind.
