What do you name that character who is good at everything?

I’m trying to name a character who is young and is good at everything. He’s 25-years-old. He writes, reads…he’s smart. In school he was good at sports and was on most of the teams without being a jock. He doesn’t make male friends easy because most are jealous because he is good at everything. Girls, and most he’s shy around, adore him because he is a super nice guy. Currently he living in New [name]York[/name] where he is a part-time bike messenger. The rest of his time he spends working on his first novel.

I really don’t know what to name him.

Names I sort of like
[name]Gavin[/name]
[name]Devin[/name]
[name]Kyle[/name]
[name]Sean[/name]
[name]Timothy[/name] (nn. [name]Tim[/name])
[name]Jeremy[/name]
[name]Curtis[/name]

They are all soft sounding names so I’d ned a strong surname.

Any thoughts on the names I listed? Any other suggestions for names and surnames?

Thanks

This reminds me of my cousin, who is a [name]Timothy[/name].
I also know two Timothys personally who are both tremendously accomplished.
Never really thought about it before, but it fits.

I also know an accomplished [name]Curtis[/name].

I don’t have strong associations successful or not for the other names, but maybe mildly unsuccessful ones.

Actually [name]Devin[/name] is a name I associate pretty strongly with some less successful guys…

[name]Jonathan[/name], [name]Nathan[/name], and [name]Matthew[/name] are coming to mind.

Good luck!

[name]Timothy[/name] [name]Matthews[/name]? : D

Based on all your criteria, the first name that came to my mind was [name]Austin[/name]. From your list I think [name]Gavin[/name], [name]Jeremy[/name], or [name]Curtis[/name] would fit.

[name]Gavin[/name] is the one I prefer.

i like [name]Austin[/name], [name]Michael[/name], [name]Zaire[/name], [name]Blaire[/name] and [name]Ethan[/name]

[name]Mary[/name] [name]Sue[/name]?

@kala_way…LMAO! I almost choked on my hot chocolate.

I like [name]Austin[/name] very much.

So we have:

[name]Austin[/name]
[name]Curtis[/name]
[name]Timothy[/name]
[name]Jeremy[/name]
[name]Gavin[/name]

I can’t use [name]Michael[/name] because I already have a [name]Michael[/name] in this story.

[name]How[/name] about [name]Luke[/name], [name]Will[/name], [name]Cole[/name], [name]Wesley[/name]?

Here are a few last names from the pages and pages of surnames I have.

[name]Ashby[/name]
[name]Banks[/name]
[name]Bennett[/name]
[name]Chadwick[/name]
[name]Currie[/name]
[name]Donnelly[/name]
[name]Fisher[/name]
[name]Fowler[/name]
Hatch
Healy
[name]Hendrix[/name]
[name]Kimball[/name]
Kirkland
Knowles
Lange
[name]Lindsay[/name]
McCormick
McNamara
[name]Powell[/name]
[name]Riley[/name]
[name]Ritchie[/name]
Stiles

[name]Wesley[/name] Knowles and [name]Austin[/name] [name]Fisher[/name] or [name]Austin[/name] [name]Hendrix[/name] are names that would jump out at me on paper. [name]Powell[/name] is a family name for me so I was drawn to that one, and I think [name]Gavin[/name] [name]Powell[/name] goes really well.

[name]Austin[/name] [name]Keats[/name], [name]Keaton[/name], or [name]Kane[/name]. I’m finding it’s really hard to find a last name that goes wth [name]Austin[/name].

[name]Curtis[/name] [name]Webber[/name], [name]Curtis[/name] [name]Tilson[/name], [name]Curtis[/name] [name]Lockie[/name]

[name]Timothy[/name] (nn. [name]Tim[/name]) Kettles, [name]Tim[/name] [name]Windsor[/name], [name]Tim[/name] Haskim

[name]Jeremy[/name] Grandy or [name]Grady[/name], [name]Jeremy[/name] Lottman, [name]Jeremy[/name] Lange

[name]Edison[/name] (nn. [name]Eddy[/name]). It sounds smart, and [name]Eddy[/name] is fun enough to be involved in sports.

I love the last name [name]Dashiell[/name] but I have a [name]Mason[/name] Dunlop in this story and I don’t want to use another ‘D’ if I can help it. [name]Mason[/name] didn’t like any last names, but finally he accepted Dunlop.

I also like [name]Lucas[/name] or [name]Luke[/name] Grandy or [name]Grady[/name].

Anyone feeling any of these or a different combo?

For some reason [name]Tucker[/name] sprang to my mind when I read your description.

If you’re not keen on it as a first name, I suggest [name]Gavin[/name] [name]Tucker[/name], as I liked [name]Gavin[/name] from your initial suggestions.

@avesnames and bluejuniper…love your suggestions. I’m getting a big list going now. I’ll add these. I just got off work so I’m heading to bed, but will check in later today.

This basically describes my friend [name]Tim[/name]! So I vote [name]Timothy[/name] as well. His last name is very close to [name]Bennett[/name], so I think you should name him [name]Timothy[/name] [name]Bennett[/name].

What about [name]Jack[/name], as in [name]Jack[/name] of all trades?

I like [name]Timothy[/name] [name]Cole[/name] or [name]Luke[/name] [name]Grady[/name].

Soft First name: [name]Thijs[/name] (Tice), [name]Shepherd[/name], [name]Abram[/name], [name]Wyatt[/name], [name]Finn[/name], [name]Luke[/name], [name]Keane[/name], [name]Colm[/name], [name]Liam[/name], [name]Evan[/name], [name]Graham[/name], [name]Rhett[/name], [name]Amos[/name], [name]Heath[/name], [name]Dane[/name], [name]Remy[/name], [name]Tobin[/name], [name]Sawyer[/name], [name]Cole[/name], [name]Grant[/name], [name]Ryan[/name], [name]Ben[/name], [name]Griffith[/name], [name]Leo[/name], [name]Marek[/name], [name]Roan[/name], [name]Thane[/name], [name]Wes[/name], [name]Jude[/name], [name]Crane[/name]

Strong Last name: [name]Rockwell[/name], [name]Eldridge[/name], [name]Breaker[/name], [name]Radcliff[/name], [name]Garrick[/name], [name]Warner[/name], [name]Calder[/name], [name]Drummond[/name], [name]Lachlan[/name], [name]Raiden[/name], [name]Thornton[/name], [name]Wilder[/name], [name]Harley[/name], [name]Lawton[/name], [name]Gunner[/name], [name]Ransom[/name], [name]Graydon[/name], [name]Raeburn[/name], [name]Clifton[/name], [name]Bainbridge[/name], [name]Sylvester[/name], [name]Devereaux[/name], [name]Kingsley[/name], Stockton, [name]Walker[/name], [name]Travis[/name]

I think Lockerman is a good surname for this fellow. Lockerman is masculine and rugged, yet polished.

For a first name, I suggest:

[name]Collin[/name]
[name]Rafe[/name]
[name]Miles[/name]
[name]Caledon[/name]
[name]Cole[/name]

I was actually thinking [name]Gary[/name] [name]Stu[/name].
