What do you think about our Baby Girl's name?

So, the only name that my husband and I can agree on for a baby girl is [name]Carter[/name] [name]Lillian[/name]. Some days I love it and others I am not quite sure. I like unique names and my name is unisex as well. It also hapens to be a family surname on my side. I was just curious as to what everyone else thought, as I am sure there will be strong opinions since it is traditionally a boy’s name. So far no one has said anything negative about it, in fact most people say they love it. What do you think?

Generally, I would think its too masculine, but there’s something about it that’s catchy for a girl. Can’t put my finger on it.

Based on the fact that you have days where you are “unsure” means you need to opt for something else. It could be as simple as reversing the order of the names to [name]Lillian[/name] [name]Carter[/name]. Otherwise, I think it may be best for you to find a name that doesn’t have you second guessing yourself. You should feel very confident in the name you’ve chosen.

I went through this myself when I wanted to name my son [name]Julius[/name]. I had those “unsure” days. When my aunt blabbed the name to family members after she was sworn to secrecy, I was angry, but relieved at the same time because I was having second thoughts. I finally found a name that both my hubby & I adored and the rest was history. Never had any second thoughts after we agreed on that name. Best of luck to you on naming your daughter.

I like the fact that she could use [name]Carrie[/name] as a more girlish nn when she is older (if she wants to) and [name]Carter[/name] [name]Lillian[/name] is a nice combo.

I also think the name [name]Carter[/name] is a little too masculine. It’s definitely a cute and it isn’t a name you hear often but I’m not crazy over the whole giving girl’s boy names. I always think about the girl I went to school with whose name was [name]Ryan[/name] and she was consistently made fun of for “secretly being a girl” and everyone in the class would laugh at her if there was a substitute and they responded “[name]Ryan[/name], is he here?”.

I think it’s going to be important to have a girly nn if you’re going to name her [name]Carter[/name]. I personally don’t like it, but that’s the worst thing I can really say. It is normal; there’s nothing you can make fun of. Like others have said, it “goes” together. [name]Just[/name] know that she may choose to go by C. [name]Lillian[/name] at some point in her life.

Hmmmm, I like it but I couldn’t do it personally.

I think [name]Carter[/name] [name]Lillian[/name] is really cute for a unisex name. I like boyish names for girls though, generally. I’m curious–do you plan on using any sort of nicknames?

I know a little girl named [name]Carson[/name], which is pretty similar. It suits her.

I think that its really cute but when shes older she may want a more feminine name maybe she could use [name]Lily[/name] as a nn or [name]Carrie[/name]??

I don’t like it myself.

If you are going for a unisex or occupational name I think there are other options that could suit a little girl.

[name]Archer[/name]
[name]Bailey[/name]
[name]Harper[/name]
[name]Chandler[/name]
Chantrey
[name]Clarence[/name]
[name]Dexter[/name]
[name]Forest[/name]
[name]Lawrence[/name]
[name]Parker[/name]
[name]Paisley[/name]
[name]Piper[/name]
[name]Sawyer[/name]
[name]Scout[/name]
[name]Weaver[/name]

Of course, I just grabbed these names from a list somewhere. You could totally find something that sounds right for your little girl.

I think as long as it’s a family surname, then it’s ok. I agree she’ll need a girly nickname like [name]Carrie[/name].

[name]Hi[/name]!

To be totally honest, I’m not a fan of boys’ names on girls. However, I think that you have reason to use it, given that it’s a family surname, she could go by [name]Carrie[/name], she has a feminine middle name, both you and your husband can agree on it, etc., etc… I personally prefer [name]Lillian[/name] [name]Carter[/name], but it’s your opinion that matters!

Good luck!
