What do you think about the name Edith?

Thoughts on [name_f]Edith[/name_f]?

Love!! Wish I heard it used more often!

It’s not for me personally, but I totally get the appeal and the vintage charm and would love to see it used (I’ve never met an Edith). I love the nickname [name_f]Edie[/name_f] as well.

I actually love [name_f]Edith[/name_f], I never used to because I thought it was just that little bit too dated, but I love the way it sounds now and everything about it. [name_f]Edie[/name_f] is one of our top girls names for a second baby but not sure if I could convince my husband to go for [name_f]Edith[/name_f] or not :joy:

I think [name_f]Edith[/name_f] is a great name, containing that unusual ‘ith’ ending and the opportunity for [name_f]Edie[/name_f] as a nickname.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it

I used to think it was so old and outdated and that it was a name that wouldn’t come back. But when we were in the NICU there were twins [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and I simply fell in love with the name!

It still feels old and dusty to me although I really like the nickname [name_f]Edie[/name_f]. I personally would probably look for another way to get to [name_f]Edie[/name_f] but if you love [name_f]Edith[/name_f] there really isn’t anything wrong with it, just not my style.

I honestly love [name_f]Edith[/name_f], especially with the nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f]! I think it’s vintage without feeling too dated.

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] is darling! I know a little [name_f]Edith[/name_f], and it really wears so sweetly irl.

I really like it! It has a sort of dusty-but-sweet elegance to it, and I think it ages super well!

It’s too dusty for my taste. The D and TH sounds are a bit harsh for me as well.

Honestly, I find it frumpy and cold, while the nickname [name_f]Edie[/name_f] kind of creeps me out, but it’s hot right now as it’s experiencing a rousing revival. Most namers today view it as chic and fresh. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I’m not keen, I appreciate its hauntingly clipped and sparse elegance.

I love [name_f]Edith[/name_f] but I personally don’t like [name_f]Edie[/name_f] at all. I still might consider using [name_f]Edith[/name_f] if opportunity arises, as it seems that people are less likely to default to nicknames these days.

I LOVE [name_f]Edith[/name_f]! Not the biggest fan of [name_f]Edie[/name_f] though, I’d probably just use [name_f]Edith[/name_f] in full

i adore edith! so perfectly vintage with the bonus of nn edie!

I love this name! I think its a perfect combo of old fashioned/classic and fresh/current. I’m not a huge fan of the nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f] which is kind of the only downside to me but I don’t hate it and I also don’t think [name_f]Edith[/name_f] is a name that needs a nn that much either (:

[name_f]Lovely[/name_f] name! [name_f]Edie[/name_f] is a great nn, and -th names always sound interesting

I don’t quite understand the recent hype to this name atm.

I love, love, love [name_f]Edith[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Edie[/name_f] is such a sweet nickname for it :two_hearts:
