What do you think about the name Hazel?

I keep going back and forth between this name! My boyfriend Loves it, and I did at first too. But then I go through a period of uncertainty, then I love it again, then I’m not sure! So, honest opinions! What do you think of the name [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]? Full name would be [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] ([name_f]Marie[/name_f] is a family name, even though it’s common, I love it!)

I like the name [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] well enough but it’s not something I would use. I do have a great aunt with that name in her 90’s but other than that I don’t know anyone so I think it is pretty uncommon if that is something you want.

I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. It has been in my top 3 for years. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is one of the names I have loved as a child that has stayed on my list through the years!

I too keep going back and forth on this one. I definitely like the name, but I have been hearing it more in my area (Seattle) lately and feel it might be getting overly popular here, to the point where it will end up feeling very 2010-2013. If it wasn’t so trendy here (or if I didn’t have such a hang-up about trendiness) I’d probably use it. It’s a sweet name.

[name_f]Love[/name_f] it! Cute name for a little girl and lovely name for an adult. Beautiful with a little additional spunk.

is heavenly!

I adore the name [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]! It’s a name from my partners family and we really want to use it to honour his grandma but my partners sister has claimed it for any future children and we daren’t argue with her! I love it - go for it!

I lovelovelove [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]! If I weren’t so OCD about letting my list grow ANY longer (it’s already at 13 names–it doesn’t need to be any longer than that! :)), I’m sure [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] would be there. I adore her. I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Marie[/name_f] (it’s a family name for me, and my own middle name, but I still hate it, haha), but I do think [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is precious, and it works really well. I seldom can appreciate [name_f]Marie[/name_f], but I do here. I think it’s a winner! I’d go for it.

I think it has a nice connotation because of the color, but I don’t think [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is a pretty sounding name.

I just read ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ by [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Green[/name_u] and I love it now, [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] was her name in the book.

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is also cute.

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is great! It’s reasonably unique but familiar, feminine and strong, feels fresh, and has a Z sound, which I can never resist.

I’m with you, I go back and forth on it. I like the idea of it, but the ‘haze’ part sometimes puts me off.
I like nn Zelly though

I love it! It’s vintage but not super common vintage like [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] or [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. I know lots of kids and I still have yet to know of a [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is a family name for me too and I know it’s not cool in NB but I love it.

I like the name [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]! It’s definitely on my list for consideration!

I think it is great…for a pet. I have known ton’s of [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] dogs, cats, and now a squirrel. I think it sounds dowdy for a little girl.

I like it but I’ve never seen a huge appeal it seems to have on Nameberry - plus I had no idea it was so popular, it’s not even that high in the UK!

The few I know are in there 40s/50s, so to me it’s more along the lines of [name_f]Heather[/name_f]/[name_f]Anne[/name_f] than [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]/[name_f]Olive[/name_f]. I know one four year old [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], who is adorable with short chocolate-y hair, named after a grandmother. I think she’s the primary reason I like it.
