What do you think? Edited (slightly) shorter list!!

So I have come up with a long list of names I like and would consider. Some of them are more out there than others, not sure if I am brave enough to actually use some of them.
I’m not expecting yet, just getting a head start on names
I would love thoughts and comments on all or some of the names! Some things I am interested in are:
Which do you like/ dislike?
Which are usable and which aren’t?
Which would age best?
[name]Do[/name] you think any would make a good sibset?

Thankyou so much for taking the time to read my list and for any responses

I’m going to list my favorites. I tend to prefer more ‘usable’ names so my favorites should include the more usable ones.
Boys:
Cassain
[name]Frederick[/name]
[name]Otis[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Theo[/name]
[name]Walter[/name]
[name]Jude[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Arlo[/name]
[name]August[/name]
[name]Thaddeus[/name]
[name]Felix[/name]

Girls:
[name]Florence[/name]
[name]Margo[/name]
[name]Helena[/name]
[name]Lilia[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name]
[name]Miriam[/name]
[name]Clementine[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Nora[/name]
[name]Marguerite[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name]
[name]Lola[/name]
[name]Henrietta[/name]
[name]Harriet[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]
[name]Claudia[/name]

I liked your boy names and loved your girl ones! Some that struck me as very ‘unusable’ were [name]Basil[/name], [name]Lemmy[/name] (feminine), [name]Walenty[/name], [name]Cross[/name] (seems very religious. also the meaning of the word as an adjective), and [name]Mardi[/name] (gras…). Some that may not age well are Zef, Lalli, and [name]Effie[/name].

Here are my favourites from both lists!

BOYS
[name]Jude[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Theo[/name]
[name]Felix[/name]
[name]Sullivan[/name]

I also really like a bunch as middle names - [name]Atticus[/name], [name]Cross[/name] (although, like PP said, does sound religious), [name]Frederick[/name], [name]August[/name].

GIRLS
[name]Florence[/name] (my favourite name)
[name]Helena[/name]
[name]Lilia[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Lola[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Nina[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name]

Some that seem unusable to me would me [name]Otis[/name], [name]Mardi[/name], [name]Grover[/name], [name]Walenty[/name], and [name]Lemmy[/name]. I knew a boy named [name]Basil[/name], so I can see it on a child, but it still doesn’t sound great to me. I really love all of your girls names, and I think only a few may be unusable - [name]Siri[/name] & [name]Merle[/name], for pron. issues.

Some names that may not age well would be [name]Effie[/name], Lalli, and [name]Grover[/name].

Sibsets
[name]Florence[/name] & [name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] & [name]Theo[/name]
[name]Nina[/name] & [name]Jude[/name]
[name]Lola[/name] & [name]Felix[/name]
[name]Florence[/name] & [name]Clara[/name]
[name]Florence[/name] & [name]Helena[/name]

Boys-

Here are the ones that I really like. I think they are all usable. I can see these names on a young baby all the way to a matured man.
[name]Theo[/name]- So adorable! Classic, yet not overused.
[name]Arlo[/name]- Very unique but not too out there.
[name]Jude[/name]- Another one that is classic.
[name]Thaddeus[/name]- I am not 100% sure if I love this but I am loving the nick name [name]Thad[/name].
[name]Benjamin[/name]- [name]LOVE[/name], classic and strong. It is common, but I think that is one of those names where that really doesn’t matter.

Now here are some that I am iffy about.

[name]Lachlan[/name]- This is not my style, but there is something about it that I am liking. I think it is very usable.
[name]Fredrick[/name]- I think this name is very European. I can see this name on an older man, but not a young boy. Maybe if you used the nick name [name]Freddie[/name] while he was younger, it would would.
[name]Cassian[/name]- This is also not my style. I think it is another name that would not really work on a young boy, but if you used a nickname when he was younger, I think he would grow into it.

Now here are the names I do not think are usable. [name]Just[/name] my personal opinion.
[name]Grover[/name]- This name seems very childish to me. It also reminds me of a dog’s name.
[name]Cross[/name]- I do not know if you are religious, but I think this name will be seen as being extremely so. Maybe Crosser would be a better option. Also cross can be used as an adjective that has a negative association.
[name]Lemmy[/name]- This also seems very childish to me. It is extremely too nick namey. It reminds me of [name]Lemon[/name].

Girls-

Here are the ones that I find very usable, and extremely adorable.

[name]Nina[/name]- This has a level of cuteness but can also be seen as a strong professional name. So this will definitely grow with your child.

[name]Elodie[/name]- [name]LOVE[/name]. This is on my list. So unique yet it blends in with all the other popular [name]Elle[/name] names.

[name]Effie[/name]- This is very European and cute. One concern is that it may be too nick namey.

[name]Sadie[/name]- This is another name that is unique but fits right in with those popular names.

[name]Rose[/name]- Who doesn’t like [name]Rose[/name]? Simple, classic, beautiful. You can’t go wrong with this name.

[name]Lilia[/name]- Such a gerat twist on the extremly popular [name]Lily[/name].

[name]Margo[/name]- Another one that will grow with your child.

Now here are some that I am iffy on.
[name]Clementine[/name]- Something about this name is very lovely, but at the same time i just am not sure if it’s usable. If you are feeling brave, I say go for it. But I think it may be too long, so I would try to find a nick name you like, because I feel people are going to shorten it either way.

[name]Lyra[/name]- [name]Unique[/name], and pretty. But I’m not sure if it flows very well.
[name]Helena[/name]- Beautiful. But out dated? I’m not sure.
[name]Mary[/name]- Classic, but maybe a little boring. I think you have better choices on your list. This would be a cute middle name.
Lalli- This would fit in with the [name]Lily[/name]'s, but I can’t stop thinking of Lollipops.

Here are the ones I am not liking.
[name]Henrietta[/name]
[name]Elenor[/name]
[name]Polly[/name]- Want a cracker?
[name]Miriam[/name]
Cossetti
This are all a little too out dated to me.

WOW! Sorry this post is so long!
I think you have many great choices!!
Good luck!

These are my favorites from each list.

[name]Henrietta[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Polly[/name]

The ones I kept I like and think will age well.

Sibsets:
[name]Theo[/name], [name]Nina[/name] and [name]Polly[/name], [name]Nora[/name]
[name]Florence[/name] and [name]Thaddeus[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name] and [name]Merle[/name]

Boys:
[name]Basil[/name]- I’d love to see someone use this. So refreshing.
[name]Frederick[/name]
[name]Otis[/name]
[name]Ralph[/name]-[name]Love[/name] this name. Also [name]Raffy[/name] for short.
[name]Arthur[/name]-Classic, can’t go wrong with this one.
[name]Theo[/name]- Like it but [name]Theo[/name] is just a nickname for me.
[name]Lachlan[/name]- Like it but it has a melancholy sound like ‘lacking’
[name]August[/name]
[name]Loic[/name]- Have never heard this but really like it. Whats the origin? Only qualm is it looks like its missing something, spelling wise. If the prn. is Low-ic then I like it a lot!
[name]Felix[/name]

[name]Cosette[/name]- Like is but it reminds me a bit of ‘cossie’ which a lot of people call a swimming costume. [name]Don[/name]'t know if thats a UK term though?
[name]Florence[/name]
[name]Margo[/name]
[name]Lyra[/name]
[name]Helena[/name]
[name]Nina[/name]
[name]Lilia[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name]
[name]Clementine[/name]
[name]Sakura[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] this name, and the meaning. Beautiful
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Nora[/name]
[name]Marguerite[/name] Underused, a lovely meaning. [name]Daisy[/name] could be the nn?
[name]Marigold[/name]- Like it but its so flamboyant and might be a little over the top without much depth.
[name]Lola[/name]- Like it but to me it’s also a little bit childish and lacking in substance.
[name]Yvette[/name]
[name]Ottilie[/name]
[name]Henrietta[/name]
[name]Harriet[/name]
[name]Claudia[/name]
[name]Polly[/name]

Ones I wouldn’t use would be [name]Cross[/name] and [name]Mardi[/name]- both are terms used to mean moody or angry. ‘Mardy bum’ is an Arctic Monkeys song still played a lot in the UK. Haha.
Also I like [name]Effie[/name] but only as a nickname- for [name]Euphemia[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Seraphina[/name] even!
The bolded are those I like most.

Sibests (offhand)

[name]Harriet[/name], [name]Claudia[/name], [name]Ottilie[/name], [name]Ralph[/name], [name]Felix[/name]

[name]Polly[/name], [name]Lola[/name], [name]Margo[/name], [name]Arthur[/name]

[name]Arthur[/name] and [name]Florence[/name]

[name]Clara[/name] and [name]Frederick[/name]

[name]Henriette[/name] and [name]August[/name]

[name]Otis[/name] and [name]Basil[/name]

[name]Marguerite[/name], [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Ralph[/name]

[name]Lilia[/name], [name]Sakura[/name] and [name]Felix[/name]

Boys:
Cassain- I think I know how to pronounce this but I am not sure… I find it a little confusion but interesting still.
[name]Frey[/name]- makes me think if Chaos.
[name]Lemmy[/name]- Cute, what would it be short for?
[name]Basil[/name]- If pronounced “Bah-sil” with the soft a I like it.
[name]Sullivan[/name]- [name]LOVE[/name]! [name]Sully[/name] is a GREAT nn!
[name]Frederick[/name]- [name]Love[/name] this too. [name]Freddie[/name] is so sweet but he still has a longer sophisticated name for when he needs it as an adult.
[name]Otis[/name]- A dog to me ([name]Milo[/name] and [name]Otis[/name])… sorry
[name]Ralph[/name]- Not a fan… I think of the verb To [name]Ralph[/name] (vomit) again… sorry! but being honest here on first impressions!
[name]Arthur[/name]- Ok… [name]Artie[/name] could be cute.
[name]Theo[/name]- Not my style. Reminds me of the 90s ([name]Theo[/name] Huxtable)
Zef- Not sure what to make of this.
[name]Walter[/name]- SWEET! very much like this one.
[name]Atticus[/name]- [name]Finch[/name]. Too much of a literary reference for me.
[name]Jude[/name]- I like [name]Jude[/name]. Very much associated with [name]Jude[/name] law, but this is not a bad thing.
[name]Benjamin[/name]- Not a fan, you have much more fun options.
[name]Walenty[/name]- Not sure what to think of this. Confusing.
[name]Lachlan[/name]- [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name]!!! Lach “[name]Locke[/name]” is a super cool nn too!!! My favorite on your list for sure!
[name]Arlo[/name]- somewhat feminine to me… reminds me of [name]Marlo[/name].
[name]August[/name]- [name]Love[/name] this too! Sweet, preppy, and grown up enough when needed.
[name]Cross[/name]- Means mad, not a fan.
[name]Grover[/name]- Muppet to me.
[name]Thaddeus[/name]- A little frumpy. [name]Thad[/name] is not what I think of as a cool or fun guy.
[name]Loic[/name]- Not sure what to make of this.
[name]Felix[/name]- the cat.

Girls:
[name]Cosette[/name]- sweet but a little confusing for some because it seems so foreign. I could see this working well with the right LN though.
[name]Florence[/name]- [name]Henderson[/name]. Like others much better.
[name]Margo[/name]- A little dated but I like it still.
[name]Lyra[/name]- Hmmm… I kind of like this and it is a little surprising to me!
[name]Helena[/name]- do not love.
[name]Nina[/name]- A little dated but still find attractive.
[name]Odessa[/name]- trying to hard a little for me,
[name]Mardi[/name]- would need a longer name. I think of [name]Mardi[/name] Gras.
[name]Lilia[/name]- just ok.
[name]Elodie[/name]- I like [name]Elodie[/name]!
[name]Siri[/name]- Cute but reminds me a LOT of [name]Suri[/name].
[name]Merle[/name]- a little grandma but that is kind of cool.
[name]Miriam[/name]- I know two cleaning ladies named [name]Miriam[/name] so that is my main association and have hard time thinking of it for a baby.
[name]Clementine[/name]- for some odd reason this reminds me of a cow (not a gross cow, but a cute lady bow with flowers and a bell on her neck… was there some cartoon that I am thinking of???)
[name]Sakura[/name]- Not sure how to pronounce this one. Too odd I think.
[name]Effie[/name]- Makes me think of “Eff Up” as in the F-word. Sorry.
[name]Clara[/name]- Sweet and a little retro. I like it!
[name]Sadie[/name]- Not great… definitely dated. Would need a longer version. [name]Sandrine[/name]?
[name]Nora[/name]- [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name]
Lalli- not sure what to make of this,
[name]Marguerite[/name] - just ok
[name]Marigold[/name]- trying hard to be different
[name]Lola[/name]- I like it but still think of the song (which is about a cross-dresser)
[name]Yvette[/name], I have always found the spelling on this one difficult.
[name]Ottilie[/name]- a little funny, like other choices on your list MUCH more.
[name]Henrietta[/name]- reminds me of a 60s TV show or something. Doesn’t feel like a strong girl name to me.
[name]Harriet[/name]- I love the nn [name]Hattie[/name] with this
[name]Eleanor[/name]- cute
[name]Rose[/name]- overdone
[name]Mary[/name]- too common
[name]Claudia[/name]- kind of quiet, not as fun as your others
[name]Polly[/name]- wanna cracker?

Thankyou for all the responses!!! A lot of the names I wasn’t sure about, and the responses seem to reinforce that!!
I think we will revise the list and maybe re post or edit the list!

A note on [name]Cross[/name]- I am aware of the negative and religious connotations of the name but I would love to use it for personal (not religious) reasons. Are there perhaps any names that [name]Cross[/name] could be a nickname for?
