What do you think is more popular- Jack or Henry?

We’re not finding out the sex and these are our top 2 boy names. Social Security shows [name]Jack[/name] being more popular (45) than [name]Henry[/name] (57) but I feel like I’m seeing more and more people talk about [name]Henry[/name], it’s definitely on the rise. We don’t want to use one as a first and the other as a middle and I’d like to use the less common. Looking at the past 30 years on the SS website i was surprised they’ve been as far down on the list as they have, especially Jack but know it’s very big in other countries. What name do you hear more? Which do you prefer?

I’m in [name]England[/name], so not that much help, but [name]Jack[/name] is HUGE over here. Boys are being called [name]Henry[/name] as well, but [name]Jack[/name] is extremely popular. It’s ranked at #3 in [name]England[/name] & [name]Wales[/name].

I’m a big fan of [name]Jack[/name], but I think it’s way more popular than [name]Henry[/name]. I know quite a few young Jacks that go to school with my boys. The ss website has [name]Jack[/name] at 45, but [name]Jackson[/name] is 23 and there may be several Johns who also go by [name]Jack[/name] in class with your child. I think [name]Henry[/name] may get more buzz online, but in the real world there are more Jacks.

[name]Jack[/name] is definitely more popular in the U.S.

I think [name]Jack[/name] is definitely the more popular!

I know of more Jacks than Henrys, especially if you count the Jacksons and [name]Jax[/name]. I also know of a [name]Henry[/name] about to be born, but the only other henry on my radar is in his late twenties.

This is exactly what I was going to point out. [name]Jack[/name] will be more popular because of not only all the Jacks running around, but the Jacksons, Johns, Jaxons etc.

I love [name]Jack[/name], but [name]Henry[/name] gets my vote!

Excellent point about the nicknames. I hadn’t thought about that and one of the reasons we have been considering [name]Jack[/name] is that my husband is [name]John[/name] [name]Jr[/name]. and he kind of likes the idea of a III but I don’t and [name]Jack[/name] would be a compromise- duh!! I didn’t even take into account the popularity of [name]Jackson[/name].

I know a lot of Jacksons but surprisingly few Jacks and Henrys. [name]Jack[/name] is more popular in my area; I’ve yet to meet a little [name]Henry[/name].

I think the difference between 47 and 53 is going to be negligible. [name]Just[/name] go with what your gut says he is.

I think it depends where you live but at my sons daycare, theres about 4 Henrys and I only know of 1 [name]Jack[/name] there, and I’m in the UK. I think [name]Jack[/name] is more popular in the US though.

I’ve met and hear of so many more Jacks than Henrys. And though I am starting to like the name [name]Jack[/name], I love [name]Henry[/name] way more.

I think [name]Jack[/name] is more popular, because even though [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Henry[/name] are close on the popularity charts, you have to think about all the Johns, Jacksons, and Jonathans that might go by [name]Jack[/name], which makes it more popular. But I say go with the one you love more, and not care, because it won’t scar your child if they have a more popular name.

I also hear a lot of people talk about using [name]Henry[/name], but have yet to actually meet one (and I work with kids, so I see/meet lots of kids, lots of places). I do, however, know at least 5 [name]Jack[/name]'s and know of several others. And someone else made a good point about [name]Jack[/name] being used as a nn, also. So there’s more potential of more [name]Jack[/name]'s, too.

I know 3 little [name]Jack[/name] s under the age of 8. I don’t know any [name]Henry[/name] s.

[name]Jack[/name] is absolutely my favorite name and I actually think [name]Henry[/name] is more popular. [name]Jack[/name] isn’t really talked about on Nameberry and while I think [name]Jack[/name] may be more popular right now, but according to [name]Angela[/name] Mastrodonato’s predictions, [name]Henry[/name] will e the number 1 name by 2022.
