What do you think of Archer, nn Archie?

I always have a hard time getting hubby to discuss names. If this baby’s a girl, that’s fine because we’ve already settled on two names: [name]Margot[/name] and [name]Ingrid[/name]. Boys are much, MUCH harder for us. Yesterday, however, he comes home and says he’s come up with the perfect name, [name]Archer[/name]. He even said I could use the nickname [name]Archie[/name], which I’d suggested before. So, what do you all think? Does it go well with potential future sisters [name]Margot[/name] & [name]Ingrid[/name]? [name]How[/name] does it fit with the other names in my signature?

Anybody???

I like [name]Archer[/name] well enough. It pretty much falls into that [name]Thatcher[/name]/[name]Cooper[/name]/[name]Tanner[/name] category. And I don’t think it matters if it goes with the girls’ names you like right now. By the time you have another, you’ll probably have changed your mind a thousand times (since you’re a berry and all. We tend to do that.) But it does sound fine with either one to me.

Ha I’ve actually been in love with [name]Margot[/name] since we got married six years ago, and my husband suggested [name]Ingrid[/name] as an alternative about three years ago and it has stuck since then… those names more than likely aren’t going anywhere.

I think 10 years ago it would have been an amazing choice. Now, every second kid is called [name]Archie[/name] (in Australia anyway). If you put together Archers and Archies it’s actually top 10 I believe. With that said, I do like [name]Archer[/name], and I think [name]Archer[/name] and [name]Ingrid[/name] would be nice together (not so much [name]Margot[/name]). But I’m over [name]Archie[/name].

I’m in the US, and while I think [name]Archer[/name] has made it to the top 400 or so, [name]Archibald[/name] and [name]Archie[/name] aren’t even in the top 1000. I haven’t met a single kid named either [name]Archer[/name] or [name]Archie[/name].

[name]Archer[/name] is a great choice and still fairly uncommon in the US. I think you should go for it!

Thanks! I thought it was fairly unheard of as well. I’m usually not into surname- names or occupational names but the nn [name]Archie[/name] is pretty great!

I love [name]Archer[/name]! I definitely dont think it’s common… Especially in the US. I work with children fairly often and haven’t met one!

I also think it goes great with your girl names… I say go for it

Thanks! Like I said, it’s normally not a name I’d go for but my husband makes viable suggestions so rarely- his last suggestion was Putter! haha.

I like [name]Archer[/name]. It’s not that popular in the United States. I’ve never heard of any baby boys named that yet.

I have heard the name [name]Asher[/name] used once. That’s probably more likely to be popular, but I like [name]Archer[/name] better.

Also, I think it goes smashingly with your girl names. I think you have a winner.

I love [name]Archer[/name]! I also usually dislike a lot of occupational names. I do have a sweet spot for names that end in ER though, [name]Dexter[/name], [name]River[/name], [name]Evander[/name], [name]Jasper[/name], etc. But I dislike [name]Tanner[/name], [name]Thatcher[/name], & [name]Cooper[/name]. [name]Archer[/name] gives me a different vibe then those names esp. [name]Tanner[/name] and [name]Cooper[/name], not preppy at all. Anyway I think [name]Archer[/name] is a great name, it’s heard of {in the US} but not overly popular yet. If you and your husband really like it though, I wouldn’t worry about popularity!

[name]Love[/name] [name]Archer[/name], greatly dislike [name]Archie[/name].

I don’t mind [name]Archibald[/name] but dislike both [name]Archer[/name] and [name]Archie[/name]. There’s something about both names that makes my blood boil, lol. I prefer the similar [name]Asher[/name].

I think it’s great! [name]Archer[/name] nn [name]Archie[/name] is great because it’s got two different feels to it - two totally different choices your child as he grows up. I also just love both names.

I’m biased, but I have an [name]Archer[/name], though his nn is [name]Arch[/name]. [name]Love[/name] it!

I really, really like the name [name]Archer[/name] nn [name]Archie[/name]. I would love to use it but I probably won’t because I live near a city named, [name]Archie[/name]. Please use it!! Because I can’t :/. LOL

I like [name]Archer[/name] but it’s trendy compared to [name]Margot[/name] and [name]Ingrid[/name] and I don’t think it would work. [name]How[/name] about [name]Arthur[/name]? It has the same kind of style to [name]Margot[/name] and [name]Ingrid[/name]. Also and [name]Arthur[/name] could be called [name]Archie[/name].
