What do you think of Bay?

What are your opinions of Bay for a boy? I personally LOVE the sound of it and the mouth-feel (only you fellow name junkies will understand that!), but we are still brainstorming. I don’t like any of the longer versions of Bay so it would just be Bay. I’d love to hear all honest opinions, and let me know if you know any!

Would be little brother to Abel, Olive & Fern.

I love it! I love the simple, cool, laid-back sound and the double nature connection (perfect with your sibset).

I rarely see it mentioned, but when I do, people often bring up the similarity to the slang term “bae” – it doesn’t bother me personally, but I just thought I’d mention it in case it bothers you!

I’ve never met one IRL but I came across it a while back as the name of one of British TV presenter [name_f]Kirstie[/name_f] Allsop’s sons. He’s [name_u]Bay[/name_u] [name_u]Atlas[/name_u] and his brother is [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] [name_m]Hercules[/name_m]!

I absolutely love [name_u]Bay[/name_u]! There are a few possible negatives, but I don’t mind them personally. I especially love [name_u]Bay[/name_u] with your sibset  Don’t know anyone with the first name myself, but I’ve heard of a few with [name_u]Bay[/name_u] in the middle spot.

Thank you! I do also think of “Bae” (after someone pointed that out to me) but that doesn’t bother me too much, But maybe I’m just optimistically hoping that’s not a long lasting slang term :woman_facepalming:t3:

I don’t like the similarity to ‘bae.’ And it seems more modern than the rest of the sibset! Also [name_u]Bay[/name_u] and [name_m]Abel[/name_m] are a little too similar.

I think Bay and Abel are too similar and I’m not such a fan. It sounds too made up for me and that is coming from someone who loves lots of made up sounding names. Sorry

I’ve always considered [name_u]Bay[/name_u] a girls name, thanks to the TV show Switched At Birth.
[name_u]Bay[/name_u] on a boy is very unexpected, but I think I like it! And it definitely matches your sibset

I prefer [name_u]Cove[/name_u] on a boy, but don’t mind [name_u]Bay[/name_u]. I think of water, of course, as well as bay leaves.

I’m a huge fan of [name_u]Bay[/name_u]! It feels rather modern next to [name_m]Abel[/name_m], [name_f]Olive[/name_f], & [name_f]Fern[/name_f], but I can still see it working. The ‘bar’ connection doesn’t concern me, personally.

I think [name_u]Bay[/name_u] would work so well with your other children’s names! It’s a cool, gentle name.

I absolutely love [name_u]Bay[/name_u] it’s fresh, outdoorsy and vibrant I think he would be a really cool sibling name for [name_m]Abel[/name_m], [name_f]Olive[/name_f] & [name_f]Fern[/name_f].

When my son was in NICU, there was a little boy called [name_u]Bay[/name_u] in the incubator next to him. I thought it was an awesome name since. It just sounds so fresh, soft and kind.

Reminds me of [name_f]Bae[/name_f], to be honest with you. It’s short and simple but I think it can cause teasing potential. I’d say go for it. The name is cool and refreshing.

I love the name, especially as a middle. Although it does work with your sibset, I feel like [name_m]Abel[/name_m] may feel slightly out of place as the only non-nature name :slightly_smiling_face:
