[name]Bird[/name] is a family name. I have it on my boys’ and girls’ lists as middle name material, but do you think it works as a first name? I’m normally not an animal name as a first name type, but this one has a lot of meaning. If [name]Wren[/name], [name]Lark[/name], [name]Sparrow[/name], and [name]Hawk[/name] work… why not?
I think [name]Bird[/name] works! It also leads to cute vintage nickname, [name]Birdie[/name].
To be honest [name]Bird[/name] sounds a little odd to me as a first name–perhaps a middle name would work better? Or you could always giver her a name like betty, elizabeth and just call her birdie, which is really cute.
[name]Bird[/name] as a first name on it’s own feels more boyish. On a girl I like [name]Birdie[/name] and moreso as a nickname for [name]Bernadette[/name] or [name]Elizabeth[/name] or something. I think it’s a great mn for either gender!
Not a fan as a first name, personally. I like that it has meaning to you, so I think it works as a mn. I also agree with others that if you use it as a fn, it works better for a boy.
Only as a middle name.
I like it as a nickname or a middle name (especially [name]Birdie[/name] for a girl), but I’m not totally sure about it as a standalone first name. Offhand, I think of “flipping the bird” (meaning, obscene gesture with middle finger).
I’m going to make this a poll.
