What do you think of Cass?

Currently our No. 1 pick is [name]Cass[/name] for our little boy. It’s an Irish name meaning “curly-haired”. We love it because of its strong simplicity, its heritage, and how great it sounds with the surname. What are your immediate thoughts on hearing the name? Thanks!

There’s a character in one episode of [name]Little[/name] House on the [name]Prairie[/name] named [name]Cass[/name], and in my book, any [name]Little[/name] House name is a good name. I like [name]Cas[/name] as a nickname for [name]Casper[/name], but I also like shorter, nicknamey names on their own as given names. I think it’s cool and different, and wonderfully pronounceable and spellable.

[name]Don[/name]'t mind [name]Cass[/name]. I would probably use it as a nickname myself. I think of ‘Supernatural’ and Castiel, nickname [name]Cas[/name], and I think it could also work as a nickname for [name]Caspian[/name]. I haven’t heard of it as a name on it’s own before, I’ve always assumed that it was short for something. If you love it then use it!
Good luck!

Are you sure that’s Gaelic? I’ve never heard of it before. Other than as short for [name]Cassandra[/name].

[name]EDIT[/name]: Oh right, ‘cas’ as a word means ‘curly haired’. The surname [name]Cassidy[/name] means the same thing. I’m assuming this is where you’ve got [name]Cass[/name] from. Irish C Names for Girls - Baby Names of Ireland

I think of the name [name]Cassidy[/name] because we call my niece “[name]Cass[/name]” all the time.

I think of [name]Cassandra[/name] or [name]Cassia[/name] to be honest - its very feminine to me because of that.

I love it as a nickname, but I’d probably use a more formal name like [name]Caspian[/name] or [name]Castor[/name] or [name]Casper[/name] or [name]Cassian[/name] and call him [name]Cass[/name]. Either way, I think it works. It would probably fit in well with kids named [name]Cash[/name].

I’m frequently called [name]Cass[/name] - short for [name]Cassandra[/name], but I wouldn’t mind sharing it with a boy at all seeing as there are plenty of male names that start with [name]Cass[/name]-. I [name]DO[/name] think, however, that a fuller name might serve him better in the long run? [name]Cassidy[/name], [name]Caspar[/name], [name]Cassius[/name]?

It seems a bit feminine to me. Also makes me think of Crass.

I dislike it for a boy because, like others have said, it sounds like a nickname for [name]Cassandra[/name] or [name]Cassidy[/name]. It also just seems too short/nicknamey in general, I feel like there should be a full name and [name]Cass[/name] as the nn.

I like [name]Cassius[/name] nn [name]Cass[/name] but I wouldn’t personally use it for a full name.

Yeah I like it but as a nn for something longer maybe?

I too think of Castiel from ‘Supernatural’ and his nn [name]Cas[/name], which I think is really cute and also seems masculine to me. It isn’t the most substantial name in existance, but no one ever said that was a rule… It might be better as a nn but if you don’t like any of the longer versions I can still definitely see it working. =]

[name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Cassius[/name], mediocre about the name [name]Cass[/name].
