Not [name]Devin[/name], not [name]Devlin[/name], just [name]Dev[/name]?
I kinda like it, but it reminds me a bit of [name]Deb[/name] short for [name]Deborah[/name].
I like it ok. I think most will assume it’s short for something. I really love the name [name]Lev[/name] (pronounced to rhyme with [name]Dev[/name], not like leev). I think it would need to be paired with a long, strong middle name.
I prefer it as a nickname for [name]Devlin[/name] or [name]Devereaux[/name]. I think it’s handsome, but I think I would always assume it’s a nickname.
it’s too insubstantial on its own, it really needs a fuller name to fall back on.
I find it lacking, it’s a really good nickname to me
I love it as a nn, but as a full name, I agree it’s lacking something. I think it might get mistaken for “dove” (or even the Hebrew boys’ name, [name]Dov[/name]–I only think of that because of Rookie [name]Blue[/name], haha), as well. I think [name]Devlin[/name] or [name]Devereaux[/name], nn [name]Dev[/name], would be great though.
I too think it sounds incomplete. But I am a bit of a hypocrite because I love the name [name]Cy[/name]. Not [name]Cyrus[/name], [name]Silas[/name], [name]Cyril[/name]- just [name]Cy[/name]. So I understand!
I think of devo - Australian slang for devastated. But if you have never heard of that before, then the sound of [name]Dev[/name] is cute, but it does feel like its short for something and I feel he will have to spend his whole life convincing people that, [name]Dev[/name] really is his name.
