I don’t care for any of the nicknames don’t want her to have one except for maybe [name]Elle[/name] (L). WDYT? Hubby and I both agree we like it. Thanks
I think it’s a lovely name! Strong and elegant. If you don’t want her to have any nn’s just call her [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] right from the get-go. I know plenty of people who go by their (longer) full names with no nicknames. She may choose to give herself a nickname at some point in time, however… my younger brother was ALWAYS [name_m]Nathan[/name_m]… until puberty when he decided “[name_m]Nate[/name_m]” sounded cooler to the girls. Now he is mid twenties and still [name_m]Nate[/name_m]. Always [name_m]Nate[/name_m], now. We (his family) respect his right to be called the name he prefers. I think that is the most important thing.
I love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and it’s one of my top names, too!
If you don’t like nn’s, do as the other poster said and call her [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] from the start…but be aware that if you do, people might call her [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] anyway! Friends in school, etc…that could get on your nerves!
Not sure if you’ve considered it but my favorite nn for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is [name_f]Nelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Nellie[/name_f]/[name_f]Nell[/name_f].
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is so lovely (but I prefer the spelling [name_f]Elinor[/name_f]). I’m really bummed because my sister called this name for her future daughter and it kills me! I would so use this if she hadn’t called it!
I’m not a big fan of most nicknames either and I’ve heard that if you insist on calling them by their full names, they might just stick to it. I know lots of people who go by their full names (myself and everyone in my immediate family included), so it’s not unheard of, even with longer names.
I go by [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] like 98% of the time, but I always have those 2 people or so who insist on calling me [name_u]Nat[/name_u]. I don’t mind it and your little [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] might get people who call her [name_f]Elle[/name_f] or [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], but it will all depend on her preference. She might love the name [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and hate the name [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], or she might not. It’s kind of a gamble with any name. [name_m]Even[/name_m] the shortest names get things added onto them.
Either way, it’s a beautiful name with a great legacy and a great deal of class and sophistication. You can’t go wrong with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]!
