I sort of like [name]Fife[/name] and would prefer it on a boy. I like its softer and mystical feel. Reminds me of nature and the fae.
My concern is how similar [name]Fife[/name] and Strife sound.
[name]Fife[/name] [name]Eoin[/name]
[name]Fife[/name] [name]John[/name]
[name]Fife[/name] [name]Prosper[/name]
[name]Fife[/name] [name]Avery[/name]
I think of [name]Don[/name] Knotts as [name]Barney[/name] [name]Fife[/name] on “The [name]Andy[/name] [name]Griffith[/name] Show.” Considering he was decades before my time, I’m surprised how strong the association is in my mind. [name]Fife[/name] feels flighty and maybe not too bright, but basically good natured. That’s got to come from [name]Barney[/name]. I do like [name]Fife[/name]'s musical meaning, and I like how short and sharp it sounds, despite having soft sounds. Meeting a RL [name]Fife[/name] would probably make me like the name more. Right now, I prefer [name]Fifer[/name]/[name]Pfeiffer[/name].
I see it as more masculine.
“[name]Fife[/name]” is a low-lying region in [name]Scotland[/name]. It’s a military flute. As a name it’s got a nice sound, though perhaps some unfortunate rhymes (and, to cruel adolescent boys, it’s rather close to [name]Fifi[/name]).
I don’t hate it. It’s unique but pleasant. Reminds me of [name]Piper[/name]. In fact, [name]Fifer[/name] is interesting as well.
Might be hard for some people to pronounce though.
Mmhhh, I don’t like it.//
I like [name]Piper[/name] better.
[name]Fyfe[/name] Dangerfield’s music made me love this name for a boy.
Reminds me instantly of the character [name]Barney[/name] [name]Fife[/name] on The [name]Andy[/name] [name]Griffith[/name] show.
As in [name]Barney[/name]? No way. Terrible for either gender.
[name]Fife[/name]…makes me think of the instrument they played in the revolutionary war. I second the idea it sounds like strife. If it must be used, I’d put it in the middle. I mean, “[name]Hi[/name], I’m your defense lawyer, [name]Fife[/name],” doesn’t sound very well. It sounds more suited to “[name]Katniss[/name]? [name]Katniss[/name] where are you? It’s me, [name]Fife[/name].” It also sounds like a mispronounciation of something…probably strife. Or knife. Or pipe. I think it could be used on either gender, though, so long as it’s in the middle.
It doesn’t really sound like a name to me at all.
I only like it as a mn. I prefer [name]Fifer[/name] as a first name, boy or girl
