What do you think of Heidi?

My husband won’t let go of the name [name]Heidi[/name]. I can’t decide if it sound like a classic name, a little girl’s name or a porn star name. What do others think? We’re thinking of [name]Heidi[/name] [name]Rose[/name].

I kind of like it, but it does have it’s flaws. I think of the story of the little Swiss girl, which is cute. I think of [name]Heidi[/name] from The Hills, which is not cute. I also think [name]Hi[/name]-de-ho.

The good thing is that the Swiss girl will probably be the only association that a little [name]Heidi[/name] of today will have attached to her.

My only other problem with it (for me) is the I ending makes me think of all of the girls called [name]Mandi[/name], [name]Staci[/name], [name]Andi[/name] or whatnot growing up in the 90’s…obviously [name]Heidi[/name] isn’t supposed to be Heidie, but something about I endings reminds me of how girls named [name]Jessica[/name] would make themselves [name]Jessi[/name] with an I to set themselves apart or feel more ‘unique’ most likely. I doubt other people would think of this.

I love [name]Heidi[/name]. Definitely a classic!

A lovely classic!

I think [name]Heidi[/name] is great. However, [name]Heidi[/name] [name]Rose[/name] feels very sing-song to me. ([name]Heidi[/name]-ho, neighbor!)

[name]How[/name] about a longer middle? For example:

[name]Heidi[/name] [name]Rachel[/name] (2-syllable)
[name]Heidi[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] (3-syllable)
[name]Heidi[/name] [name]Angelica[/name] (4-syllable)

There are of course many, many other options in various styles

I think it’s very sweet, but I’m not sure it will age well. I have a hard time picturing a middle-aged [name]Heidi[/name].

I think [name]Heidi[/name] is a beautiful name, and [name]Heidi[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is gorgeous if not a little predictable though with [name]Rose[/name] being such a filler middle name. The only [name]Heidi[/name] I know of is named [name]Heidi[/name] [name]Rose[/name], and in her mother’s words “[name]Rose[/name] sounds nice with everything, I’ll use that.” So unless it’s got family connection, a different middle name would be nice, here’s some I like…

[name]Heidi[/name] [name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Heidi[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]
[name]Heidi[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Heidi[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Heidi[/name] [name]Isabella[/name]
[name]Heidi[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Heidi[/name] [name]Francesca[/name]
[name]Heidi[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name]
[name]Heidi[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]

There are so many conflicting images for this name: [name]Heidi[/name] the Swiss girl, the Hollywood Madam [name]Heidi[/name] Fleiss and model/TV presenter [name]Heidi[/name] Klum. [name]Heidi[/name] is very 70’s-80’s name to me so it’s a bit “dated”. I find it very childlike and cutesy and even with the associations I’ve mentioned, I still can’t imagine a grown woman with this name. I wouldn’t classify it as “classic” but it’s cute for a little girls name.

I also really like [name]Heidi[/name], is lovely, and I only associate it with the Swiss girl. I think any more modern associations are likely to fade quickly.

Also like [name]Heidi[/name] [name]Rose[/name], though if you wanted something a bit different to [name]Rose[/name] you could have [name]Pearl[/name] or [name]Grace[/name] or [name]Mae[/name] which are just as nice

[name]Heidi[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Heidi[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Heidi[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Heidi[/name] [name]Sue[/name]

I adore [name]Heidi[/name]! These days I think of [name]Heidi[/name] Klum, although I understand the image of the little Swiss girl as well. I think it actually can work really well on all ages. It’s known but not overly common so I think there’s room to make your own. I’m no loving [name]Heidi[/name] [name]Rose[/name] though, but I can’t quite pinpoint why. I like both names individually but I think there’s something lackluster about them together.

[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Hedy[/name] [name]Lamarr[/name]…but she was a [name]Hedwig[/name] I think. Not that usable imo…

When I hear the name [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] the first thing that pops into my mind is ageist [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] Klum. I’ve known one [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] in my life who was really nice and I have 2 distant relatives named [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] who I barely see. I guess it’s an okay name, though I wouldn’t use it. I prefer [name_f]Hailey[/name_f], [name_f]Hallie[/name_f], [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], or even [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f].

I really like [name_f]Heidi[/name_f]. I only know one person with this name (she’s around 21 now). I’d love to meet a little [name_f]Heidi[/name_f].

I’ve always liked [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], and knew one in her 40s and it didn’t seem too childish for her at all

I think I’ve known enough different people named [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] that it just feels like a classic to me. Not super common, a bit of a [name_m]German[/name_m] twang, but a nice classic. It’s a tad dated but not badly since I don’t think it was ever really common. It’s been in the top 400 since the early 50’s and it’s never been above 60.

[name_f]Heidi[/name_f] is gorgeous. I’d stay away from [name_f]Rose[/name_f] though. It’s super overused as a middle name.

It’s a great name! It was one of DH’s favorites when choosing for our daughter. I like it bc its recognizable not very common, and feminine without being too frilly.

Its definitely the little Swiss girl for me (as you may guess from my username), but at the same time I know a lot of people named [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] so I think it has transcended that. It could be becoming dated I guess, as I don’t really know any very young Heidis, most are around my age or a bit younger, but I still really like it. I chose it for my daughter’s middle name because its my favourite book

I like the name. However, I worked with a slutty tramp named [name_f]Heidi[/name_f]. Sorry, just using anonymity to be brutally honest. Anyway, everyone in the office called her [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] Ho… to her face! She didn’t seem to really get it… that we were making fun of her.

I’m sure your daughter will not fall into the same category as my previous co-worker. Still, though, it’s a dangerous name to me.
