Hello.
What are your thoughts on [name_f]Idalia[/name_f]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like this name?
I think [name_f]Idalia[/name_f] is a lovely name. It reminds me of [name_f]Ida[/name_f] and other vintage names with -lia ending (such as [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] or [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]).
maybe because iāve never heard it before but I just have a hard time picturing an [name_f]Idalia[/name_f] or saying it. I think it could be pretty but would take getting used to. Not sure how you are pronouncing it but sounds similar to [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], which I do like but makes me think of [name_m]Black[/name_m] [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] (so not so great in that context)
I think itās distinctive and feels vintage, as you say. It reminds me of a name you come across in old cemeteries (which to me is a good thing!). But I agree it takes a little time to get used to, and I wouldnāt be sure how to pronounce it because the āIā kind of throws me off ā Iād assume Eye-DAHL-ya?
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] is one of my favorite names, and this name seems similar; so I think [name_f]Idalia[/name_f] is quite beautiful:) It has some fantasy-esque qualities (thatās a good thing) but, as you pointed out, also some similarities to classy names like [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], etc. I would totally encourage you to use it.
Not a huge fan, maybe because Iām not familiar with it. It reminds me too much of other names, like [name_f]Adalia[/name_f] and [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]. But if you love the name, my opinion shouldnāt matter.
Iām pronouncing it like 'Ih-Da-[name_u]Lee[/name_u]-[name_m]Ah[/name_m]", so if thatās the right way, I think itās pretty but could easily be confused/shortened to [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]. Very pretty name, just wondering if you are set on the nn being ā[name_f]IDa[/name_f]ā, that itās not my first thought.
Thank you for all comments. I realize that [name_f]Idalia[/name_f]'s pronunciation may be troublesome and tricky. However, I really like this name and it also reminds me of [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] / [name_f]Adalia[/name_f]. I am glad that [name_f]Idalia[/name_f] is still relatively unpopular and unknown compared to many other vintage names.
