What do you think of Kit as a standalone boy name? And can you rank my list?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there!

You guys were so helpful before when I was weighing the option between our 1st and 2nd place boy name combinations (either [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m] or [name_m]Fox[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]) but I decided, since we have a long time between now and the due date in early Dec, I would open up my list for one or two more names. We added a family name, [name_m]Charles[/name_m] (nickname [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]) since both of our great grandfathers were named [name_m]Charles[/name_m], and then I found myself thinking about [name_u]Kit[/name_u]. One of our top girl name choices would have been [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] with the nickname of [name_u]Kit[/name_u], and I just can’t let go of how much I love [name_u]Kit[/name_u]. It seems refreshing and bright and adventurous. I know it’s a boy nickname as well, short for [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], but I’m not a huge fan of [name_m]Christopher[/name_m]. What would you think of [name_u]Kit[/name_u] as a standalone name?

Also, would you mind ranking my current top four boy names list?

[name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m]
[name_m]Fox[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] ([name_u]Charlie[/name_u]) [name_m]Fox[/name_m]
[name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m]*

*Could be open to another middle here, if the flow doesn’t work, but I would like to honor my dad and [name_m]William[/name_m] was his name.

Our last name is similar to McKeely so the first and last name options would flow kind of like this:

[name_m]William[/name_m] McKeely ([name_u]Billy[/name_u])
[name_m]Fox[/name_m] McKeely
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] McKeely ([name_u]Charlie[/name_u])
[name_u]Kit[/name_u] McKeely

Oh, and our daughter’s name is [name_f]Rose[/name_f], so the sibset would be:

[name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]Fox[/name_m]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]Charles[/name_m]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u]

Nickname version:

[name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and [name_u]Billy[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and [name_m]Fox[/name_m]
[name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u]

Thanks so much!!!

I just asked the same question a few days ago! and had quite a few helpful responses. We ended up using [name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] because of the meaning. I quite like [name_m]Fox[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] as brothers!

@emersonwildwood Awesome, I’ll check out your thread! Thank you for the link and thanks for your input! Oh, and [name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] is a wonderful name - excellent choice!

My top choice is [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] with the nickname [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]. I like that both names have meaning because they’re family names, and I think [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] are so cute together.

I love [name_u]Kit[/name_u] as a standalone name! [name_u]Kit[/name_u] McKeely is amazing.

I really like all your options, so I don’t think you can go wrong, but here’s how I’d rank them:

[name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]Fox[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] ([name_u]Charlie[/name_u]) [name_m]Fox[/name_m]
[name_m]William[/name_m] ([name_u]Billy[/name_u]) [name_m]Fox[/name_m]

I’m not keen on kit, it reminds of the car from the 80s show knight rider or a kit [name_f]Kat[/name_f], I don’t think it’s a solid name, sorry.

I really like [name_u]Kit[/name_u] as a standalone name! Like you said, it’s a fun and adventurous-sounding name that would be adorable on a little boy and still very usable on an adult.
This is how I’d rate them:

  1. [name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m]
  2. [name_m]Fox[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]
  3. [name_m]Charles[/name_m] ([name_u]Charlie[/name_u]) [name_m]Fox[/name_m]
  4. [name_m]William[/name_m] ([name_u]Billy[/name_u]) [name_m]Fox[/name_m]

I love [name_u]Kit[/name_u] as a full name, and think it works 100%. My favourite of your combos is [name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m] followed by:

[name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m]
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m]
[name_m]Fox[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]

I love [name_u]Kit[/name_u] as a standalone name, and [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m] or [name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m] is amazing.

I really love [name_u]Kit[/name_u] as a standalone

It can be used as a nickname for [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] if that appeals to you at all, but really I do think it’s lovely as it is

Why not [name_m]Charles[/name_m] nn [name_u]Kit[/name_u]? One of my relatives was [name_m]Carlton[/name_m] nn [name_u]Kit[/name_u], so I think it could work for [name_m]Charles[/name_m] or really any C/K name.

[name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m] and [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m] are my favorites on your list.

Since a baby fox is called a kit, I think you could use [name_u]Kit[/name_u] as a nickname for both [name_m]Fox[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] and [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m]. I also agree that [name_u]Kit[/name_u] would work as a nickname for [name_m]Charles[/name_m]. Other options are any of the [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] variants, such as [name_m]Kristof[/name_m], [name_m]Christian[/name_m], etc.

Thanks so much for the feedback, everyone!
