What do you think of Lydie?

My favorite name right now is [name]Lydie[/name]. I know many people see it as a nickname for [name]Lydia[/name], but it is a stand alone french name. My husband and I both studied french in school and we went to [name]France[/name] for our honeymoon so we like that connection. I still wanted to get other people’s opinions though.

What do you think of the name [name]Lydie[/name]? [name]Do[/name] you think it’s too nicknamey? Could you imagine a adult woman with this name?

Given your personal history and attachment to French culture and the name [name]Lydie[/name], I think it’s a perfect name for you guys to use.

Isn’t that the name of [name]Jack[/name] Donaghy’s daughter on 30 rock (though I think it is short for [name]Lydia[/name], and maybe spelled Liddy)? [name]How[/name] would you pronounce [name]Lydie[/name]? Liddy or Lie-D? I think it is a cute nickname, but I wouldn’t use it as a full name.

I prefer [name]Lydia[/name] (one of my favorites). [name]Lydie[/name] doesn’t compare.

The daughter on 30 [name]Rock[/name]'s real name is [name]Elizabeth[/name] and they call her Liddy like Liddy Dole. My husband doesn’t like the name [name]Lydia[/name] because all he can think of is Beetlejuice.

That is hilarious! Beetlejuice is one of the reasons why I love the name so much. It is one my all-time favorite movies from childhood! Heck, I even had a neon green Beetlejuice lunch pail when I was in grade 1.

I agree 100% normally I would feel it’s too nicknamey, but it works for you guys
