You have to think about what it will be like for the boy/man to have the name for the rest of his life. People aren’t going to put a z in [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], because it doesn’t have a z in it - he will have to tell them every time. It doesn’t add anything phonetically, it’s just a random extra letter that makes the name misspelled, pronounced exactly the same. It’s just making hassle for the child for no reason. I know z is a cool letter and all that, but really [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is a beautiful name spelled correctly. [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] could be a little long for a middle name with [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], depending on the last name, but it’s a very nice name.

[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] ([name_m]Ben[/name_m]) - Perfect. A solid classic.

[name_u]Conner[/name_u] [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] ([name_u]Conner[/name_u]) - Odd spelling again. A good rule of thumb is that if there is no phonetic difference, or if you don’t have a good reason to go with a legitimate variation from another language, go with the most common spelling for your area (probably [name_m]Connor[/name_m] / [name_m]Conor[/name_m]). It’s a simple kindness to the child that will reduce hassle in his life. Spelling differences do not make a unique name, they just make a name irritating to live with. Nice combo, though.

[name_u]Easton[/name_u] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] ([name_u]Easton[/name_u]) - Eh, I pronounce [name_u]Easton[/name_u] exactly the same as the word eastern so it sounds like [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] who lives in the [name_f]East[/name_f] or something. I can’t like it, but I guess you don’t have that problem.

[name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] [name_u]Drew[/name_u] ([name_u]Finn[/name_u]) - It’s OK, not my style, but a good name.

[name_m]Lukas[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] ([name_m]Luke[/name_m]) - Very nice. I think the k is unnecessary unless you are [name_m]German[/name_m] or Scandinavian, though.

[name_m]Zackery[/name_m] [name_u]Noah[/name_u] ([name_m]Zack[/name_m]) - [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] [name_u]Noah[/name_u] is lovely. I don’t like [name_m]Zackery[/name_m].

Thank you for your opinions, it is really appreciated. As for the name [name_m]Alexzander[/name_m] yes I do like the spelling over [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. I do not know why nor do I have a good reason but I am living with a name that is constantly misspelled. I have an additional letter that does nothing but I happen to really like it ([name_f]Madisson[/name_f]). Yes there is the chance that he will not like it but it does open up another nickname if I do choose, [name_m]Zander[/name_m] (don’t like [name_m]Xander[/name_m]).

As for [name_u]Conner[/name_u], the spellings are pretty similar, I know an equal number of people with each spelling but most teachers in my area spell it how it is pronounced which is [name_u]Con[/name_u]-NER. So again this is another spelling I don’t think I will change.

[name_m]Matthew[/name_m] is supposed to be let with 2 t’s, sorry if it wasn’t. The same goes for [name_m]Zackery[/name_m], I don’t like the “ch” spelling and I know many [name_m]Zackery[/name_m]'s spell with a “ck” instead.

I do really appreciate your positive comments and reasoning and not just saying you don’t like a name just because you don’t like one of them in the combo. You actually think about how the name sounds rather than is it YOUR style, so thank you. Did you check out the girls version?

Many of my names are spelt correctly but they are not the popular spelling. They are the less common version of a popular name. Any one else have opinions. I will comment personally later.

If you want his nickname to be [name_u]Alex[/name_u], I suggest [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], as the ‘x’ itself creates the ‘z’ sound for the ‘zander’ ending. If you want his nickname to be [name_m]Alec[/name_m], go with Aleczander.
