[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.
Here are my favorite to least favorite rankings:
Girls-
Amelia-I love love love [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. I wish that it weren’t so popular, but that’s the only downside. It’s such a great balance of classic but fresh, feminine, strong, bold & elegant.
Lillie-Lillie (or [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Lilly[/name_f], [name_f]Lili[/name_f], Lilie…depending on the situation!) has been one of my favorites since I was a kid. It has such beautiful imagery & is impossible to say without a smile. It’s also really popular & spelling it any way other than [name_f]Lily[/name_f] may be a headache.
Amelie/Millie-I really like [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]. I don’t like it nearly as much as [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], but I may be biased, because I named my sweet kitty [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] when I was younger. [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] is fun & bright & less popular. I like [name_f]Millie[/name_f] as a nn for many names (Camille, [name_f]Camilla[/name_f], [name_f]Camellia[/name_f], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Millicent[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] & Emmeline) but for some reason I don’t get it out of [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]. I guess [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] feels like it doesn’t need a nn.
Elizabeth/Elsa-I like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] a lot. It’s sweet, smart & classic. I don’t mind Elsa; it’s simple & pretty, but I think that it’s better as a full name. I like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] though. I also love the nn [name_f]Tess[/name_f], but it sort of seems like a stretch.
Callie-I think it’s cute & sporty & reminds of summer at the beach. It feels too nick-name-y on its own though. But good news! There are lots of full names that are beautiful with [name_f]Callie[/name_f] as a nn. I like [name_f]Calliope[/name_f], [name_f]Callista[/name_f], [name_f]Callalily[/name_f], [name_u]Camille[/name_u], [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] & [name_f]Camellia[/name_f]. I also think that [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] & [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] probably work.
Margaret/Marguerite-I don’t love the way that either of these sound, but I do love how they’re classic & sturdy & have tons of adorable nns. I like [name_f]Maisy[/name_f], [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_f]Gerty[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f] & [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] as nns.
Peggy-See above! It feels too nick-name-y on its own, but [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] nn [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] is adorable & unexpected.
Noemie-I like the vibe & the way it looks, but it just feels off to me saying it out loud.
Natasha-I don’t know why, but I don’t care for this one. It feels dark & dramatic.
Mackenzie-This is just too trendy for me, & I kind of prefer it for a boy. I don’t hate the idea of [name_u]Mack[/name_u] on a girl though; it’s kind of cute somehow.
Marcy/Marceline-I applaud that it’s different & feminine, but I just really dislike the sound of [name_f]Marcy[/name_f].
Harlow/Harlowe-This is way trendy & reminds me of the word harlot.
Boys-
Peter-Love love love [name_m]Peter[/name_m]. It’s one of my favorite boys. It’s sweet & handsome & classic & grows up well. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though it reminds me of [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Pan[/name_m], who doesn’t grow up!
Luka-Beautiful & kind & slightly exotic while still being simple. I do prefer [name_u]Luca[/name_u], but am not opposed to [name_u]Luka[/name_u] really.
Everett-I adore this one too. It has [name_u]Southern[/name_u] charm & feels kind & handsome.
Walter/Walt-I think it’s cute & old fashioned. I know a ten year old named this, & somehow I still have a hard time picturing it on a child.
Zevi-This is adorable. I love [name_m]Zev[/name_m] nn Zevy, but I like this too. It’s fun & I love the ‘Z’.
Maverick-I don’t know…I like the nn [name_u]Mack[/name_u], but this is just too harsh sounding. And really popular.
Ellison-I like [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] okay, but not sure I like the way that this looks or sounds for some reason.
Laken-I can see the appeal of [name_u]Lake[/name_u], but this feels kind of made-up-y.
Cohen-I don’t mind the sound, but I think that this has some cultural implications that makes it offensive? I’m Jewish & still don’t get it, but maybe be careful.
Alexei-I just don’t like the vibe. Feels snobby somehow.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
