I am not expecting, but we are hoping to start a family within the next year or two, and being the chronic planner than I am, I’ve already started working on names. I’d love to hear your feedback:
Girls
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] ("[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]")
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] OR [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] (if the latter, I’d like to call her [name_f]Bea[/name_f].)
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] ("[name_f]Rosie[/name_f]")
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Marianne[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Christine[/name_f] ("[name_u]Penny[/name_u]")
Boys
[name_m]Roger[/name_m] [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Ransom[/name_m]
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_m]Kirk[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Eustace[/name_m] ("[name_m]Jim[/name_m]")
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] ("[name_u]Max[/name_u]")
Thanks for your suggestions!
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] ("[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]") - sounds like a Southern belle
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] OR [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] (if the latter, I’d like to call her [name_f]Bea[/name_f].) - I think I prefer [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] in front
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] ("[name_f]Rosie[/name_f]") - I like both names but together they’re too heavy on the “ar” sound.
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] - this is a sweet pair
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Christine[/name_f] ("[name_u]Penny[/name_u]") - They flow well together
Boys
[name_m]Roger[/name_m] [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] - a bit dated
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Ransom[/name_m] - I adore [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] but [name_m]Ransom[/name_m] I can’t like at all
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_m]Kirk[/name_m] - too many “k” sounds in this combo
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Eustace[/name_m] ("[name_m]Jim[/name_m]") - I’m glad to see [name_m]Eustace[/name_m] getting some recognition
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] ("[name_u]Max[/name_u]") - I like these two names
You have some lovely combos here!
Girls
I love the following:
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Christine[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], but don’t particularly like it with [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like any of the following?
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]/[name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Helene[/name_f]
Boys
I really adore the following:
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Eustace[/name_m]
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_m]Kirk[/name_m]
Suggestions
[name_m]Walter[/name_m]
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] ("[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]") - Personally, I would prefer [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]. I am not too fond of [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]. It is a beautiful combo.
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] OR [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], I also prefer [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] over [name_f]Elinor[/name_f].
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] ("[name_f]Rosie[/name_f]") - This is sweet. [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] has a better flow.
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Amelia[/name_f].
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Christine[/name_f] ("[name_u]Penny[/name_u]") - nice
[name_m]Roger[/name_m] [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] - I have not heard the name [name_m]Roger[/name_m] for such a long time, it’s nice to see.
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Ransom[/name_m] - This is a handsome, spunky combo.
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_m]Kirk[/name_m] - okay
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Eustace[/name_m] ("[name_m]Jim[/name_m]") - okay
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] ("[name_u]Max[/name_u]") - Very nice, would prefer [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m].
For a girl, my favorite is [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Marianne[/name_f].
For a boy, I like a lot of the names, just not together. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]?
[name_m]Even[/name_m] though it is a mouthful, I like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] ([name_f]Rosie[/name_f]). I also really like [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f].
From your boys’ names, my favorite is [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Eustace[/name_m] ("[name_m]Jim[/name_m]").
[name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], and [name_m]Jim[/name_m] sound great together!
Favorites:
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] - I like nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], but I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u], [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Romy[/name_u]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Christine[/name_f] - Prefer nn [name_f]Nella[/name_f]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Ransom[/name_m] - Only with nn [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. In fact, I might just use [name_u]Theo[/name_u] on its own
Like:
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] “[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]”
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] “[name_u]Max[/name_u]” - I prefer [name_m]Mack[/name_m] (as a nn for [name_m]Cormac[/name_m])
Neutral:
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Marianne[/name_f]
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_m]Kirk[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Eustace[/name_m] - I would just use [name_u]James[/name_u] with no nn
Not Really a [name_f]Fan[/name_f]:
[name_m]Roger[/name_m] [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] ("[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]")–Honestly, I love [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] as a combination so much that it’s difficult for me to get on board with [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] are the perfect vintage, sassy, cute, yet modern combination. [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], on the other hand, is dowdy and blah to me.
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] OR [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] (if the latter, I’d like to call her [name_f]Bea[/name_f].)–Again, I love [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] a lot and get vaguely irritated by this spelling, it sounds harsher to me. I also prefer [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] to [name_f]Elinor[/name_f], but since they sound the same, it’s not as big of a deal. [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] is a better combo, and [name_f]Bea[/name_f] is adorable.
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] ("[name_f]Rosie[/name_f]")–[name_u]LOVE[/name_u]. Everything is perfect.
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Marianne[/name_f]–I love [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] but love [name_u]Marian[/name_u] even more. are you by any chance a Sense and Sensibility fan? I note both [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] and [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] on your list, and as I have much love for the Dashwood sisters, I approve. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is alright. I prefer [name_f]Emily[/name_f].
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Christine[/name_f] ("[name_u]Penny[/name_u]")–I absolutely adore [name_u]Penny[/name_u], and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is a wonderful name that makes me think of both [name_m]Odysseus[/name_m]'s wife and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_u]Garcia[/name_u] from Criminal Minds. [name_m]Both[/name_m] excellent associations. [name_f]Christine[/name_f] is a good name, just not one I personally feel strongly about.
[name_m]Roger[/name_m] [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]–I love both [name_m]Louis[/name_m] and [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], one of the few names where I vacillate on spelling preference, so I’m wholeheartedly in favor of that. I prefer [name_m]Robert[/name_m] to [name_m]Roger[/name_m], but [name_m]Roger[/name_m] is a massively underused, strong, and handsome name.
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Ransom[/name_m]–[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is a great favorite of mine. [name_m]Ransom[/name_m] has both a historical Puritan feel and an undercurrent of badass. Too daring for a first name in my book, perfect as a middle.
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_m]Kirk[/name_m]–[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m]. With [name_m]Kirk[/name_m] all I think is “[name_m]Captain[/name_m]”. The combo flows fantastically, though.
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Eustace[/name_m] ("[name_m]Jim[/name_m]")–I adore [name_u]James[/name_u], one of the greatest boys’ names out there. [name_m]Eustace[/name_m], to be, is horribly and unusably dorky. Also, the repeated ending S sound doesn’t flow very well. I like [name_m]Jim[/name_m]! I’d use [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] or [name_u]Jay[/name_u] myself, but [name_m]Jim[/name_m] is very old-fashioned and stolid in a good way. It’s been growing on me, along with similar nns like [name_m]Ted[/name_m] and [name_m]Joe[/name_m].
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] ("[name_u]Max[/name_u]")–I love [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], [name_m]Fred[/name_m], and [name_u]Freddie[/name_u]. I’m not a big fan of [name_u]Max[/name_u], and actually dislike [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m].
