Names I love but he doesn’t include [name]Ciaran[/name], [name]Darcy[/name], and [name]Cillian[/name]. His favourite that didn’t make the cut is [name]Kelly[/name] (still on the table for a middle name). Our son’s name is [name]Gareth[/name] and we have an Irish McLastname.
Based on that, what other suggestions would you have for us? What do you think of the list?
My favourite from your list is probably [name]Hugh[/name], though they’re all nice (just not my style). [name]Cillian[/name], I love, it’s a shame your DH isn’t on board as you could have used [name]Kelly[/name]/[name]Killy[/name] as a family nickname. How do you both feel about Kellan?
I’d suggest a range of names from the British Isles:
[name]Owen[/name]
[name]Conan[/name]
[name]Glenn[/name]
[name]Connor[/name]
[name]Shea[/name]
[name]Riordan[/name]
Alpin
[name]Finlay[/name]
[name]Kendrick[/name]
[name]Logan[/name]
[name]Egan[/name]
[name]Brennan[/name]
[name]Henry[/name]
[name]Collin[/name]
[name]Patrick[/name]
[name]Joshua[/name]
[name]Nathan[/name]
[name]Ronan[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Wynne[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Tiernan[/name]
[name]Niall[/name]
[name]Declan[/name]
[name]Aidan[/name]
[name]Brynn[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name]
[name]Jasper[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name]
[name]Rory[/name]
Craig
[name]Shane[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Donavan[/name]
I love [name]Hamish[/name] and [name]Seamus[/name]! And I adore [name]Cillian[/name] and [name]Ciaran[/name], amazing names. [name]Hugh[/name] and [name]Eamonn[/name] are nice too, I don’t like [name]Fergus[/name] and [name]Angus[/name] (I picture angry drunk red-bearded scottish men).
I love all of them! The only two I’d probably strike off (particularly if you’re in the U.S.) are [name]Ewan[/name] and [name]Hamish[/name]. Unless you’re in a major metropolitan area, that is. Unfortunately, kids will notice the “EW” in [name]Ewan[/name] and the “[name]HAM[/name]” in [name]Hamish[/name]. Might I suggest [name]Egan[/name] in place of [name]Ewan[/name]? Whoops, I see that genevie beat me to it!
Oh, I love the idea of [name]Killian[/name] nn [name]Kelly[/name]! I hadn’t thought of that and will have to suggest it to DH.
I’m actually in [name]Canada[/name], and in an area that has a very strong Scottish/Irish heritage, so I’m hoping these names aren’t as ‘weird’ (for lack of a better word) as they might be elsewhere. I actually know a young [name]Ewan[/name] and two young Anguses, and looking at the SSA stats for the US those names have been quite uncommon…but the ‘Ew’ thing did occur to me.
