What do you think of Scarlet Jean?

Umm,…. yes, so we’re still undecided on our baby girl #3’s name, and she is due within a week.

Big sisters are [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].

My mother’s middle name is [name_u]Jean[/name_u], so I like that as a middle, unless you all agree it just sounds awful with [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f], and then I’d definitely reconsider and be open to suggestions.

We might call her [name_u]Scout[/name_u] too, and I like it that nickname works with [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f]. There’s also a bit of a To Kill a Mockingbird nod with the [name_u]Jean[/name_u] as a middle.

So, anyway, this is what I’m liking now, but wondering how it would go over in the Nameberry world… Let me know!

Also, how do you think Scarlett Jean compares to some of the other ones we’ve played with (Eliza Grier, Poppy Grier, Saylor Poppy)?

[name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is gorgeous

Beautiful!

Objectively, it’s lovely, but all I can see is a description for a red pair of jeans. :frowning: Reversing it it to [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] or changing it to [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] [name_u]Joan[/name_u] or [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] might work better.

I love it!! Although I do prefer [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] with 2 T’s.

[name_u]Love[/name_u], love, love it!
And I also like the above suggestion of spelling [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] with two T’s.

I like it!

It works great and I love that [name_u]Jean[/name_u] honors your mother! I also prefer [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] with two Ts.

Thanks for the input. I like both spellings of [name_f]Scarlet/name_f but yes, agree that since we’re using [name_u]Jean[/name_u] to honor my mom, we should go with the [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] spelling.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it would work to call her [name_u]Scout[/name_u] with that name if we felt like it fits her?

I do love [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]! [name_u]Scout[/name_u] is a super cute nickname for a [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f].

[name_u]Scout[/name_u] works great for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]! If that doesn’t fit, [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] is really cute too.

[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is a solid choice.

[name_u]Scout[/name_u] makes a cute nickname. I can see [name_u]Scottie[/name_u] working well also.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it! I also prefer the [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] spelling. I think I may have been the one to mention [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] “[name_u]Scout[/name_u]” in one of your threads so this makes me so excited to see it (possibly) being used. Good luck!

[name_u]Scottie[/name_u] is super cute!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes! You did suggest [name_u]Scout[/name_u] for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]. We also actually had [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] on our list for baby girl #2 back in 2014. At that time I wasn’t liking [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] so much as a name in and of itself, and was considering using it just to get to [name_u]Scout[/name_u]. But then I thought that was kinda weird, if I didn’t love [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], why would we name her that just to be able to use the nickname [name_u]Scout[/name_u]? So [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] was off the table, and we ended up going with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] anyway….ha!

Now I’m actually liking [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] as a name on its own, and I like the nickname options it provides. My husband isn’t totally sold but it’s definitely a top contender!

Beautiful! [name_u]Love[/name_u] it!

Yes yes yes! [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] nicknamed [name_u]Scout[/name_u]!

Oh my goodness do I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this name! [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is so amazing!! And I adore [name_u]Scout[/name_u] as a nickname  (the TKAM reference is super cool to since I love [name_u]Scout[/name_u] in the book)

I really hope you go with this name because it’s honestly perfect!

Yay!!! Thanks everyone! I hope my husband agrees.

Also, if we wanted to go by [name_u]Scout[/name_u], would we include that in birth announcements, like would you say: [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] ("[name_u]Scout[/name_u]") ?? Or would you just wait to see if that nickname fits…?

A beautiful choice!
