What about [name_f]Caledonia[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Callie[/name_f])?
I absolutely love the sentiment and definitely would consider [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] to honour a [name_u]Scott[/name_u]! I think it is cute and unique!! I prefer [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] to Scotlynn
I used to [name_f]Nanny[/name_f] for a little girl named [name_f]Scotia[/name_f] and her name was derived from honouring a [name_u]Scott[/name_u].
YES ALL THE WAY!
I came across Scotlyn in a YouTube video about names (yes, I know, huge name geek over here lol) and I immediately fell in love. I asked around on Nameberry and didn’t get a lot of good reactions for it which is pretty unusual but I understand why. It’s a pretty name but made up which is commonly unliked around here.
So I thought about [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] instead. It’s not made up, pretty, strong, and totally usable. I agree with you, if [name_u]Holland[/name_u], [name_u]Paris[/name_u], and [name_m]Boston[/name_m] are usable, why not [name_f]Scotland[/name_f]? However, I do think it would be weird to name your child [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] just because you liked it. I think a name this grand and unique needs some meaning behind it. I feel like it needs to be an honor and I think it’s a lovely way to honor your dad.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted to note that it’s in my top three girl names, sitting at number one currently, to honor my mom
Anywho, I say go for it! [name_u]Scottie[/name_u] is an adorable nickname for a girl! Also instead of naming her Scout (which I agree might be too childish on an adult), you could give her the nickname [name_u]Scout[/name_u]
[name_f]Edit[/name_f]: Oh! I forgot to mention that I just saw this family on instagram named their daughter [name_f]Scotland[/name_f]! [name_u]Love[/name_u] seeing these unique names used in the real world!
I think [name_f]Scotland[/name_f]/Scotlyn is super cute!
And to a British one, and I can give that opinion
It’s definitely a cool way to honour your dad, but I’m not a fan of Scotlyn (it has that trendy made-up sound) so I would just go for [name_f]Scotland[/name_f]. Although personally, I would find it a little weird if you had no connection to the country.
Scotland is perfect! I love that. I am not a fan of Scotlyn, mostly because -lyn names are just not really my thing. But I definitely don’t think it would be too unusual. Also honoring your father [name_u]Scott[/name_u] this way is lovely.
I actually do have a connection to [name_f]Scotland[/name_f]! [name_f]My[/name_f] Dad was of Scottish descent and my cousin married a man from [name_f]Scotland[/name_f].
I have a friend named Scottlyn, nn [name_u]Scottie[/name_u]. She’s one of the most feminine girls I know, and it fits her very well. I wouldn’t have thought it useable before I met her, but now I can easily imagine a little girl with the name.
I really like [name_f]Scotland[/name_f], especially as a middle name. I love [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] as an honor name for [name_u]Scott[/name_u]!! However, I’m not a fan of Scotlyn. You may also like [name_u]Scout[/name_u]!
That’s perfect!
