What do you think of some new names that I've been considering?

I have a top 5/6, but some of these new names are giving them a run for their money - although I’m not sure if they have staying power.

What do you think of…

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] - Too cutesy? I’m not sure if it would age all that well and I’m not a fan of any of the longer names that lend itself to nickname [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] - I think it’s beautiful and love the nickname [name_u]Josie[/name_u], but I’m not sure if they feminization of [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] will eventually make me regret using it.

[name_f]Mary[/name_f] - Is it too religious? Too popular? Too boring? I am not religious at all and I normally don’t like really popular, uber traditional names; however, I find this name beautiful and sweet.

[name_f]Susanna[/name_f] - I’m not sure if I like this name in itself or I just love the idea of nicknames [name_f]Zanna[/name_f] or [name_f]Sookie[/name_f].

[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] -I’ve always thought hissy, ‘ss’ names were a little unsubstantial but my mom kept mentioning this name when I was pregnant with my daughter and I’m sort of liking it now. I really like the nn [name_f]Tess[/name_f], but what kind of girl do you picture with this name? For some reason, I feel like it has a trendy feel to it…?

[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] - I’ve always liked this name and grew up adoring the books. I love the nn [name_f]Mona[/name_f], but are [name_f]Mona[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] just too close? Not to mention - “Moan-ah”…?

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is a little cutesy and not my favorite lucy name. However I think it is a nice name. My mom just uses the term [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] gooesy, so that what I think but I think that saying is kind of old, so I don’t believe you need to worry about that.
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]-I like it, I just prefer it as a middle name.
[name_f]Mary[/name_f]-I think it is lovely. It is in the top 100, however it is not as popular as it was before. I haven’t meet a little girl named [name_f]Mary[/name_f].
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f] is lovely, I just prefer the [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] spelling.
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]- I like it, although I like [name_f]Tess[/name_f] more. It has a more vintage feel to me. I picture a girl with dark hair kind of like [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] Arteton(sp?) in [name_f]Tess[/name_f] of the dubervilles
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is nms probably because of the moan-ah thing. It is still a nice name.

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] - it’s OK

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] - dislike, find ti masculine and ugly

[name_f]Mary[/name_f] - yes, uber religious. at least to me. That’s the name religious parents will chose if they have a child (at least in Croatia, maybe it’s different in USA)

[name_f]Susanna[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Susanna[/name_f], and prefer it without a h. [name_f]Susanna[/name_f], alternative spelling rules! (at least [name_f]Susanna[/name_f])

[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] - it’s OK

[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] - I once love it and I still find it nice.

[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]. I think she could be sweet and sassy, pretty but possibly tom-boy, calm and strong minded. For some reason I picture strawberry blonde hair. Not fond of the other names listed, although [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] could grow on me

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] - I think it is cute, but overused.

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] - Yuck. Never liked it or [name_m]Joseph[/name_m].

[name_f]Mary[/name_f] - Not too popular in my area. And I love [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Tess[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] sayin’. Could go by a double name or just [name_f]Mary[/name_f] or just [name_f]Tess[/name_f].

[name_f]Susanna[/name_f] - No.

[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] -I like [name_f]Tess[/name_f]. [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Tess[/name_f] of the …(insert proper spelling here)

[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] - [name_f]Love[/name_f] it, but have [name_f]Mona[/name_f]. Once people are used to calling [name_f]Ramona[/name_f], I think it would be ok.

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]: I like it, but I had a sweet basset hound named [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] growing up, so it kinda ruined it for people! I really like [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f], though.
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]: I really like this name. If we ever had a second daughter, her middle name will probably be [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (a family name for us). This time we’re probably using [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], which has a similar feel to me.
[name_f]Mary[/name_f]: I really like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] too. It is one of those names that has been underused in the last few generations. My mom is [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f], so we’ll be using one or the other, depending on how it fits with the first name (if we ever choose one!). I much prefer [name_f]Mary[/name_f] to most of the [name_u]Marian[/name_u] names (with the exception of my own name, of course!) especially [name_f]Marie[/name_f]/[name_f]Maria[/name_f]. To me it is a lot like [name_f]Anne[/name_f]. Very traditional, but not that common at all. I also really like it when names are paired with [name_f]Mary[/name_f]…not tired combos like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u], but maybe [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f], or[ (as another poster mentioned) [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Tess[/name_f]. I also knew a handful of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] {Surname} girls growing up. [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_m]Miller[/name_m], [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Spencer[/name_u], and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Corbin[/name_u]. I grew up in the South, though, so that’s less common other places.
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f]: I really like [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is a great combo.
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]: I prefer [name_f]Tess[/name_f] to [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]. I think it makes a lovely nn for [name_f]Therese[/name_f] or [name_f]Theresa[/name_f]. I totally did [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Therese[/name_f] nn [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Tess[/name_f]!
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]: Probably my least favorite on this list. I like [name_f]Ramona[/name_f], but I don’t like [name_f]Mona[/name_f].

What a great list! All these would sound fantastic with [name_f]Nora[/name_f]. I love:

[name_f]Mary[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]

Not really a fan of any of these besides [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] - I actually really like this name, but it’s a bit too popular for my tastes. It’s cute though!
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] - I like it. I really like the nickname [name_u]Jo[/name_u] for a girl, but I prefer names like [name_f]Joella[/name_f] and [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]. But [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] isn’t bad.
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] - It’s kind of plain for my tastes.
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f] - Again, a bit plain, but it’s a fine name.
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] - This is my top favorite girls name! I always picture a sweet little girl with curly brown hair. I’ve loved this name for a really long time.
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] - I like it. I can understand why the “moan” sound turns some people off. I don’t think I would really use it, but I like it.

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] - I don’t think it’s too cutesy. I know a [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] who’s very serious which is probably why I think that.

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] - I like this name, but don’t love it. I love the nn [name_u]Josie[/name_u] and [name_u]Joey[/name_u].

[name_f]Mary[/name_f] - While a Catholic family would be far more likely to use this name than a non-religous family (I go to a Catholic school and there are more [name_f]Marys[/name_f] than the norm here) I don’t think it’s as religious as, say, [name_u]Eden[/name_u] or [name_f]Mercy[/name_f]. I’m not religious but I’d consider [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. I think it’s a sweet name.

[name_f]Susanna[/name_f] - It’s a perfectly fine name, just NMS. I like the idea of the nn [name_f]Sookie[/name_f] (although it’s not exactly a nn your child could take to school, [name_f]IMO[/name_f].)

[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] -I love [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] and I don’t think it’s trendy. I prefer [name_f]Tess[/name_f] myself, but [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] also has plenty of charm. It doesn’t hiss at all. When I think of [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] I think of a down-to-earth girl.

[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] - Yes it does have that “moan” syllable in it, but I still think it’s a pretty name. I don’t love [name_f]Mona[/name_f] as a nn, though. I think [name_u]Romy[/name_u] could work as a nn.
