What do you think of the name Bailey?

And which middles would you pair with it?

I loved the name [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] for a boy when I was younger, but I never thought about using it for a girl until I saw that [name_f]Stella[/name_f] McCartney has a daughter called [name_u]Bailey[/name_u].

(I don’t think it’s as popular here in the UK as it may be in the US btw)

I really like the name [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]! I was my friends birthing partner last year and she named her daughter [name_f]Bailee[/name_f] so always loved it since! middle names that suit are [name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Kate[/name_f]

It’s very 2001. It’s somewhat cute, but very dated.

I find it very masculine, hard to see on a girl despite knowing so many [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]'s. And I know a LOT of [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]'s, one male and I can name 5 female [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]'s without even thinking on it for more than a couple seconds. I also agree that it’s “very 2001.”

It isn’t a terrible name by any means, but I am not a fan.

I agree that it feels dated - about 2001 feels right. I’d like it well enough for a boy, but it feels like it’s had its day as a girl name already. (I live in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] - I imagine our naming trends are more like the U.S.'s than like the U.K.'s.)

I’m in the UK too. I don’t find [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] dated. I quite like it. I only know of 1 [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] who lives in [name_m]Wales[/name_m] and he’s 5.

I love the name [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] but it’s a tad stereotyped as an animal name for me. My aunt and another friend of mine both have a dog named [name_u]Bailey[/name_u].

I like [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]. I have a friend who spells it [name_f]Bailee[/name_f] and her middle name is [name_u]Sierra[/name_u].

Wow, I had no idea it was that popular in the US. It’s been at the lower-end of the top 500 in the UK and is given to less than 100 baby girls every year so it never felt popular enough to be dated here. Good feedback though, thanks berries.

Not a fan sorry. Especially in the UK, where the phrase “the Old [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]” is a common reference for gaol.

[name_u]Bailey[/name_u] is a sweet name. It’s a good blend of vintage, celtic romance yet “current”. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it

It feels dated, but also, I cant but a gender on it. To me it sounds too feminine for a boy and too masculine for a girl.

One of my college friends is named [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and it suits her very well (spunky, spirited, a dancer, graceful, bubbly). I also know a male [name_u]Bailey[/name_u], around 18 years old and I just don’t like it on him. I feel it fits a female better. Oh and on a side note…I named my female puppy [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]. Lol. So I like the name well enough.

As far as combos, I do love my friend’s name, and also like: [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], [name_f]Michelle[/name_f], and [name_f]Joanne[/name_f] with it. Kind of a random selection of names but they popped in my head when I thought of [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] so there ya go.

I’m in the UK too, but I can only see it on a boy. Something similar sounding like [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] or [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] would be nice on a girl.

I love it on both genders, although I prefer it on girls a little more. I don’t find it dated; it’s not a popular name in the UK and never ‘boomed’ like it did in the US.

I love [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] for a boy, so I can’t really “see” it for a girl anymore. I used to love it, and I think I remember that [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] [name_f]Maria[/name_f], [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] [name_u]Alexis[/name_u], and [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] were my favorites. That was before I outgrew my unisex names phase. [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] is popular enough for a girl here; I wouldn’t think it would have problems? It might be the opposite in the UK, though.

I know so many dogs named [name_u]Bailey[/name_u].
