Today my four-year old daughter asked if we could call the baby (on the way) [name]Cindy[/name]. lol. I think it’s kind of cute, and there surely wouldn’t be many others her age with the name! But I’m still not sold. I don’t really care for [name]Cynthia[/name] although I do really like the name [name]Lucinda[/name]. My husband keeps shooting that one down though. I haven’t asked him about just [name]Cindy[/name] yet. So I thought I’d see what you wise people think!
I like [name]Cindy[/name] a lot, I just wish I liked the longer versions of it.
[name]Cynthia[/name] is eh, I knew a really depressed girl named [name]Cynthia[/name] in middle/highschool, who was a great friend, but I get a sad air.
[name]Lucinda[/name] is too old-fashioned and heavy for my liking.
There’s [name]Hyacinth[/name] perhaps? I’m not a fan of it though. I really wish [name]Cinderella[/name] wasn’t such a fairytale princess name, I like so many aspects of that name.
It’s NMS. We would have probably named our daughter [name]Cynthia[/name] except I didn’t like the nn [name]Cindy[/name] at all. I do love [name]Lucinda[/name].
I love [name]Lucinda[/name] and [name]Cindy[/name] is a cute nn for a little girl but not an adult name.
I love [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Williams[/name]’ music, so that name works for me. [name]Cynthia[/name] is unpleasant. [name]Cindy[/name] seems dated, and [name]Brady[/name] Bunch’y, but your daughter will probably come up with more name ideas, so maybe she wouldn’t be too disappointed if you chose something else.
“Hate” is a strong word, but I dislike [name]Cindy[/name]. It’s dated, and when I was very small I knew a lady called [name]Cindy[/name] whom I disliked, so she was my first exposure to the name.
If I can get past those things, I can see the appeal of the name on a little girl. I prefer [name]Lucinda[/name] as a long form (too bad your husband doesn’t like it), and [name]Hyacinth[/name] is romantic. I don’t care too much for [name]Cynthia[/name].
Best wishes!
I really dislike [name]Cindy[/name]. I can just imagine a snobby and annoying girl named [name]Cindy[/name], sorry. I love [name]Lucinda[/name] though!
I’m in the minority here, but I love the name [name]Cynthia[/name] and the nn [name]Cindy[/name]. Back in the 50’s and 60’s when I grew up, it was quite popular and i always envied the girls who had this classy name, and cute nn. I don’t here it much anymore so I think it is due for a comeback.
I love it! Especially as a nickname for [name]Lucinda[/name]. Then she could go by her full name or [name]Lucy[/name] as well
I don’t really like [name]Cindy[/name] (or [name]Lindy[/name] or [name]Mindy[/name] for that matter). They just seem dated, but I guess I can see the appeal. Sounds like I’m a minority in this opinion, but I prefer [name]Cynthia[/name] to [name]Lucinda[/name]. [name]Lucinda[/name] is very heavy-sounding to me. [name]Cynthia[/name] makes me think of the character from Call the Midwife (maybe I’m the only one who watches that show.)
I like [name]Cynthia[/name] and [name]Lucinda[/name]…but I think [name]Cindy[/name] would be fine as well. [name]Just[/name] imagine having your own [name]Cindy[/name] [name]Lou[/name] Who
[name]Even[/name] though [name]Cindy[/name] is nick-namey…a lot of nicknamey names are popular now.
It is a bit dated, but I think it is extremely cute. I would just go with [name]Cindy[/name].
