[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berries!
I was wondering - what do you think of the name [name_f]Demi[/name_f]? I’ve been seeing this name pop up more lately and was curious what you all think of it!

I think it’s too tied to [name_f]Demi[/name_f] Lovato and [name_f]Demi[/name_f] [name_m]Moore[/name_m]. There’s also Demigod and Demisexual. I prefer [name_f]Demetria[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmy[/name_f].
I like it as a nickname for [name_f]Demelza[/name_f] but not really as a standalone. I agree that it’s very tied to the famous Demi’s.
@fearlessfirefly @whatchamacallit I agree immediately think of Lovato and [name_m]Moore[/name_m]. I like the sound but I don’t think it’ll ever outgrow those associations. Also for some reason there’s something a bit standoffish about it to me? Not sure why, but I definitely get those vibes.
[name_f]Demi[/name_f] feels like a prefix to me, so it feels like saying “half” or “part;” if it weren’t for that, I might like it more. [name_f]Delphi[/name_f] is a similar name that doesn’t feel the same to me.
I love it! It has a strong sound to it
I was never a huge fan. I considered it. I even considered Demileigh or Demleigh. But then I think of [name_f]Demi[/name_f] Lovato and all the drama and connotations that come with that. [name_m]Just[/name_m] my personal opinion I know some people love it.
Agree with this! There could also be some pronunciation confusion considering Lovato is DEH-mi and [name_m]Moore[/name_m] is duh-MI.
[name_f]Demi[/name_f] is cute. It has a warm sweet sound
I actually really like [name_f]Demi[/name_f] - I think its incredibly underrated!
I definitely see what you mean. Like @fearlessfirefly said it’s the prefix for demigod, demisexual, etc. so irl certainly has that feel to it. And ooh I love [name_f]Delphi[/name_f]! [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] isn’t my style personally, but [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] nn [name_f]Delphi[/name_f] is so sweet!
I think it does too! I’m also a fan of Remi/Remy and [name_u]Romy[/name_u]. I love those strong, short, punchy names.
That’s a huge issue I have. I don’t think [name_f]Demi[/name_f] Lovato and the drama surrounding them is an association I’d want for my child. I love the sound but I wouldn’t want people associating my daughter with them.
That’s another issue I’ve noticed. I don’t mind pronunciation differences if it’s language-based (like iz-uh-dor-ah vs. ee-sa-dor-uh) but having a name with multiple pronunciations just seems like a pain!
I can definitely see the appeal and am not surprised it’s becoming a more popular choice! I hope over time it shakes off the Lovato and [name_m]Moore[/name_m] associations, because there’s something incredibly fun and sassy about it.
