What do you think of the name Geranium?

I love the name [name_f]Geranium[/name_f]! I think it’s sooooo cute and me and my hubby are both ready to name our daughter it. But, I want to know what you guys think please tell me!

Admittedly I’m not fond of this as a name. The imagery is lovely but the sound is a littke jarring. I struggle to imagine a person with this name.

That being said you and your partner love it and there isn’t anything wrong with using it as a name.

It wouldn’t be my first choice of name and isn’t one I am overly keen on but it’s growing on me quite a bit  I do picture the flower and let’s just say I love the flower, and I picture quite a nice sweet girl. Out of interest, do you plan on calling her [name_f]Geranium[/name_f] or a nickname?

Some nicknames:
[name_f]Geri[/name_f]
[name_f]Ani[/name_f]/[name_f]Annie[/name_f]

I think the most important thing about naming your child, is to name him/her with love. If you and your husband love the name then go for it!

A bit too out there for me and I’m not too fond of nickname Gerie but I do think it’s usable, especially with a more well-known middle name.
If you’re looking for suggestions: [name_f]Geraldine[/name_f], [name_f]Lilium[/name_f], [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], [name_f]Azalea[/name_f], [name_f]Gardenia[/name_f], [name_f]Petunia[/name_f], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Bluebell[/name_f], Edelweiss, [name_f]Orania[/name_f], [name_f]Esmeranda[/name_f], [name_f]Esperanza[/name_f]

I wouldn’t give my baby girl the name [name_f]Geranium[/name_f]. It’s the scientific name of a flower species, and while geraniums are lovely, [name_f]Geranium[/name_f] is not, in my opinion.

It’s not my cup of tea either, I’m afraid. I think it’s the quite masculine sound of the ending + the first syllable, which reminds me of [name_m]Gerald[/name_m], that makes it feel bit heavy and doughy to me.

However, I really appreciate seeing an entirely novel floral name considered — kudos for thinking outside the box! If you love it, by all means use it. I wonder if you may also like some of these, which feel a bit fresher and lighter to me:

Alyssum
Delphinium
Carnation
[name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f]
[name_f]Gardenia[/name_f]
[name_f]Wisteria[/name_f]
