What do you think of the name Kingsley for a boy?

What do you think of the name [name]Kingsley[/name] for a boy? My husband loves it but I not so sure. I feel that it may be a bit arrogant and pretentious. We are Chinese so it’ll be [name]Kingsley[/name] Choong. All comments welcomed.

[name]Kingsley[/name] is too surname-like for me which is really my major problem with it, plus the obvious nickname is [name]King[/name] which is kinda meh to me.

First thought was that it sounds pretentious!

I like it! I think it’s cute, yet strong. You don’t have to use [name]King[/name] as a nickname. For example, you could do Kingsy, [name]Ki[/name], Kin, or [name]Lee[/name]. If you still think it’s too much, maybe, change the K to a C? Cingsley? Too weird? Well, it’s just a thought.

Yeah…Cingsley (sing’s lee?) is actually worse than [name]Kingsley[/name], I think.

[name]Kingsley[/name] sounds pretentious to me and I dislike the “king” part.

I dislike “title” names, [name]King[/name], [name]Queen[/name], [name]Prince[/name], [name]Princess[/name], Dame, [name]Knight[/name], [name]Duke[/name], [name]Baron[/name], etc and all the variants. Also, if your first son is a [name]King[/name], what would you name a second son?

[name]How[/name] about [name]Kingston[/name] instead of [name]Kingsley[/name], it takes it away from being a ‘title’ name, which honestly I always find to be pretentious and a bit vulgar. There’s also the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] element to it, which could be a source of playground teasing.
