I’ve recently met someone with this first name and I’ve fallen in love with it. What do you think?

I like it a lot. I only associate it with Culkin because of when I grew up. But I think a kid given that name now won’t run into that problem.
I would really like it, except for the unfortunate association with [name]Macaulay[/name] Culkin.

I really love it! I love any names leading to the nn [name]Mac[/name]. And I really don’t think the association with Culkin is all that unfortunate, he’s a gifted actor and I think the association will wane anyway.
I think of [name]Jimmy[/name] [name]Stewart[/name]'s character in The [name]Philadelphia[/name] [name]Story[/name] before [name]Macaulay[/name] Culkin, but I’m weird.

I’m really not a fan of “[name]Mac[/name]” names, and [name]Macaulay[/name] really does just remind me of [name]Macaulay[/name] Culkin – you can thank My Girl, Home Alone, [name]Richy[/name] [name]Rich[/name] et al for that!
I’m sure future generations would be able to get past the Culkin association, but I personally couldn’t see myself using [name]Macaulay[/name]; my mind would wander to Home Alone, [name]Richie[/name] [name]Rich[/name], etc. [name]EVERY[/name] time I heard it. That, and I’m not much a fan of [name]Mac[/name]- or Mc- names, but that’s just me.
I think it’s getting to a point where it’s more usable though because Culkin has since not been as prominent in the spotlight.

I love it! If I thought I could get SO on board, I might push for it. I [name]LOVE[/name] nn [name]Mac[/name] too. I wouldn’t let the Culkin association sway you.
Culkin. I think [name]Macaulay[/name] Culkin. There’s such a strong association with the actor, I don’t think the name will be able to stand on its own until a generation or two. If you like names that start with [name]Mac[/name], choose another of the many.
I like it…and there are many people out there with that surname as well. What are they all supposed to do, change it because of Mr. Culkin? He doesn’t have a monopoly on the name. I say go for it. The more first-name Macaulays there are out there, the less associated the name will be with Culkin. And I really like the nickname [name]Mac[/name]. [name]One[/name] of my favorite [name]Mac[/name]/Mc names is [name]McGregor[/name], like from the [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Potter[/name] books.
