What do you think of the name Olaf Andreas

We are expecting a boy any moment now and would like to name him [name]Olaf[/name] [name]Andreas[/name]. Any thoughts?

There is a series of childrens’ books called “A Series of Unfortunate Events” in which the main villain is called [name]Count[/name] [name]Olaf[/name]. For all I know, they might not have the books where you are, and they might not even be as popular when your son is growing up!

Other than that, I think [name]Olaf[/name] [name]Andreas[/name] is a cool, distinctive name that flows very well. I also like [name]Andreas[/name] [name]Olaf[/name].

[name]Olaf[/name] reminds me of [name]Count[/name] [name]Olaf[/name] from series of unfornunate events. Its a cool name just not my style.
[name]Andreas[/name] I love its so cool and sheik.
Together the name looks and sounds really nice.

andreas, or its hungarian version andras (aahn-drash), are both beautiful, strong names for boys, but olaf just brings to mine a bumbling, large viking and just makes me think of "oaf’
there are better options out there! i’d suggest you keep looking

I like it.
If it reminds you too much of ‘oaf’ (not saying it should), and you want to keep the name, try [name]Olof[/name], [name]Olav[/name] or [name]Olov[/name]. Traditional nn are Olle and [name]Ola[/name].

I know when I was young, I read some story with a character named [name]Olaf[/name] who wasn’t very competent. I suppose the author was reflecting the common English-speaking stereotype, but it affected me for a while. I grew out of that to the extent that the geographically closest relative didn’t ruin it. It has the advantage of being familiar but unlikely to be common in the near future.

I like the name. We have [name]Andreas[/name] picked out for our first son, it is such a great name. [name]Olaf[/name] is nice too, but not a favorite. Maybe try reversing it to [name]Andreas[/name] [name]Olaf[/name]? [name]Andreas[/name] has more punch and personality than [name]Olaf[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you live in the US? I ask because I rarely hear the name [name]Andreas[/name] used here. Good luck and let us know what you pick!

I really love [name]Andreas[/name]!

[name]Olav[/name] [name]Andreas[/name] would be better and more in tune with Scandinavian naming. [name]Olaf[/name] is the lesser used variant of the name… [name]Ole[/name]/[name]Ola[/name] and [name]Olav[/name] are more used, at least in Norway. It’s also less reminiscent of ‘Oaf’ and it has a more appealing sound.

As for [name]Andreas[/name], it’s well used in Norway, so [name]Olav[/name] [name]Andreas[/name] or especially [name]Ole[/name] [name]Andreas[/name] would have a very Scandinavian ring to it  It’s actually one of the most used [name]Ole[/name]-something combinations used in Norway, [name]Ole[/name] [name]Christian[/name]/[name]Kristian[/name] being on top.

My comment is assuming you chose [name]Olaf[/name] for his Scandinavian origin. If not, disregard all of this.
I will say that [name]Olav[/name] is the better choice though, because it is. In many ways ^^

I really like this name its very cute! please use its very distinctive.

Thank you for all of your thoughtful and insightful advice! [name]Olaf[/name] [name]Andreas[/name] was born on [name]April[/name] 19–we are overwhelmed with joy and love for this little blessing. He is named after my grandfather who emigrated to the U.S. from Norway. [name]Olaf[/name] is also the patron saint of Norway. So far–we have had to correct prounciation a few times–it is OH-LIF not OH-LAHF.

Congratulations!

Congratulations!!
