I met a bride at my work today who was called Tomasin. She was very pretty with short blonde hair. Her friends and family called her [name]Tom[/name] or [name]Tommy[/name].
What do you think of this name for a girl? Pretty or too masculine? [name]Do[/name] you prefer [name]Tomasina[/name]?
I have never understood [name]Tomasina[/name] (do you REALLY pronounce all those syllables?), but I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Tamsin[/name]. So I would definitely still prefer [name]Tamsin[/name] to Tomasin, but it’s closer than [name]Tomasina[/name]. Tomasin sort of has a [name]Madison[/name] type vibe, but I don’t ever see it becoming anywhere as popular.
I actually really like this name! I used to prefer [name]Tamsin[/name], but someone told me it reminded them of the word tampon and that ruined it for me. I think this spelling is closer to [name]Thomas[/name], but it’s less frou-frou than [name]Thomasina[/name]. I would consider using Tomasin (probably as a middle name) to honor my husband’s uncle who passed away. They were very close.
That would be a lovely way to honor his uncle.
I like both names. But being Hispanic I would probably go for [name]Tomasina[/name]. Although, now I say it again it kind of sound like tomatina (the Spanish tomato throwing festival.) hmm maybe not, lol
I like [name]Tamsin[/name] much better (and don’t think it sounds like tampon at all). Tomasin is too much like [name]Thomas[/name] to me–and I’m not a big fan of girl’s names that are just boy’s names with an extra letter or two. [name]Tamsin[/name] sounds like it’s own thing. Very pretty.
I love Tomasin! I’d spell it [name]Thomasin[/name], though. I’ve never found any backup for it being a legit option, though (much like Willemine).
[name]Tom[/name] & [name]Tommy[/name] turn me right off, but [name]Thomasin[/name] is lovely.
I’d also spell it [name]Thomasin[/name]. I detest [name]Thomas[/name], but I don’t mind its feminine forms.
[name]Tamsin[/name] is pleasant. [name]Thomasina[/name] is nice. I think I like the h in [name]Thomasina[/name]. I did think the h in [name]Thomasin[/name] was a legitimate variant - I stole it off someone on Nameberry who reported having it as a family name?
[name]Thomasin[/name] reminds me of [name]Rosamund[/name] and [name]Gwendolen[/name] - a bit clunky and solid, a nice contrast to the very liquid girls names of today, the [name]Lola[/name]/[name]Lila[/name]/[name]Aria[/name]/[name]Aaliyah[/name]/[name]Eliana[/name]/[name]Liliana[/name] etc. names. But also, like [name]Rosamund[/name] and [name]Gwendolen[/name], a bit romantic in its antiquity.
