What do you think of the names Hilda and Vimy?

So i have been looking for a girls name for a while now, but my partner and I have begun thinking about using our grandmothers names for our daughters. My grandma is named [name_f]Hilda[/name_f] and his is Vimy (Vim-ee). What do you think of those two names? My first thought was that Vimy will remind people of Vimy [name_m]Ridge[/name_m] and [name_f]Hilda[/name_f] will seem too old ladyish… But my partner loves both names . what do you think?

I love [name_f]Hilda[/name_f]. I’m not sure about Vimy - I would assume it’s a nickname for something else.

I think both are really cute together.

If you’re worried about the vimy ridge association you could always use Vimy as a nickname.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] ([name_f]Hilda[/name_f]) and [name_f]Velma[/name_f]/ [name_f]Vilma[/name_f] (Vimy)?

[name_f]Hilda[/name_f] will forever be a friend of my gran’s to me, I just cannot associate it with newborns, even though I love other old names like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_m]Albert[/name_m] that are coming back into fashion.

Never heard Vimy before but I like it.

I really like both! I think they’re very cute together.

I really like [name_f]Hilda[/name_f], not too sure about Vimy. Like crispy said, I would also assume it’s a nickname, maybe for [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f].
