I am writing a story where my main character is forced out of his house by his partner and has nowhere else to go, so he ends up at his sister’s house. His sister’s entire family lives their life out on the internet for everyone to see. They’re always going on trips to get more views, and my main character can’t stand it.
Since this is bordering on being a satire, I thought about giving this family trendier names. I went with virtuous middle names because both my main character’s sister and her husband are religious, but didn’t want to go with the usual middle names like [name_f]Faith[/name_f] or [name_f]Joy[/name_f]. I also wanted to give them quite a few kids: 8 to be exact. They want as many as God will give them.
Their kids are:
- [name_m]Everson[/name_m] [name_u]Valor[/name_u] [name_u]Lemon[/name_u] “Ever” (age 15)
- [name_f]Posie[/name_f] [name_u]Haven[/name_u] [name_u]Lemon[/name_u] (age 13)
- [name_u]Bridger[/name_u] [name_u]Noble[/name_u] [name_u]Lemon[/name_u] (age 11)
- [name_f]Capri[/name_f] [name_u]Justice[/name_u] [name_u]Lemon[/name_u] (age 8)
- Navey [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_u]Lemon[/name_u] (age 5)
- [name_f]Tinley[/name_f] [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] [name_u]Lemon[/name_u] (age 5)
- [name_m]Kannon[/name_m] [name_u]Royal[/name_u] [name_u]Lemon[/name_u] (age 3)
- Dashton [name_u]Brave[/name_u] [name_u]Lemon[/name_u] “Dash” (age 1)
[name_u]Lemon[/name_u] is their last name. Their parents are [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] “Liv” and [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] [name_u]Lemon[/name_u].
What do you think of their names as a familial set? [name_f]Do[/name_f] they go well together? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any suggestions?

Those are cute names and they go well together. It does make my eyebrows raise that this religious family doesn’t seem to have any Biblical names. With a 15 year old, the parents must be over 30 years old. I expect people that age to have at least a couple of conventional names and religious families with large numbers of children seem to lean even harder into this.
But that’s clearly not your naming style so I think the names are fine for what you’re doing.

Overall, I think the names go well together. A couple thoughts that I would have as someone who would see a large sibset like this and evaluate it while reading—but also wanna mention that this wouldn’t cross the minds of most readers.
First, Navey bothers me. None of the other kids have misspelled names so it feels random. [name_u]Navy[/name_u] would fit fine. Second, [name_u]Ever[/name_u] as a nickname feels way softer than all of the other boy names so I’d be looking for him maybe bring a softer personality which is why he prefers the unisex [name_u]Ever[/name_u].
Lastly, I’m not sure I follow how [name_u]Royal[/name_u] is a virtue name? I guess there’s the God being the king of heaven but that’s not like a virtue that I’d think people would pass to their kids? I’m not religious, although I did grow up [name_u]Christian[/name_u], and I think I’d find [name_u]Royal[/name_u] as a virtue name to be almost egotistical, like taking something that is God’s alone rather than a trait like bravery or nobility that you might share. It’s a cool name on its own but doesn’t fit as a virtue like the others.
