What do you think of these guilty pleasure boy names?

I have a list of new names that I like, some of which are more guilty pleasure and not my style. I really doubt I’d use these, but I was curious what you thought of these individually.

[name_u]Tennessee[/name_u] (Also how do you use this if you aren’t from/living in the state?)
Rockland
[name_f]Cypress[/name_f]
[name_u]Langley[/name_u]
[name_f]Sparrow[/name_f]
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
[name_u]Holland[/name_u]
Bohanen
[name_u]Courtland[/name_u]
Gatlin

[name_u]LOVE[/name_u]: [name_f]Cypress[/name_f], [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]

OK: [name_u]Langley[/name_u], [name_u]Holland[/name_u]

NMS/maybe would cringe: [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f], Gaitlin

[name_m]Just[/name_m] no: [name_u]Tennessee[/name_u], Rockland, Bohanen, [name_u]Courtland[/name_u]

Suggestion: Somerled

[name_u]Tennessee[/name_u] - a bit weird but geographic names seem to be a trend. For me it fits into the same category as [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u], [name_u]Dakota[/name_u], [name_m]Berlin[/name_m] and [name_f]China[/name_f].

Rockland - Never heard that name. Seems more like a surname then a real first name.

[name_f]Cypress[/name_f] - I like it. It has a nice sound to it.

[name_u]Langley[/name_u] - [name_m]Okey[/name_m]

[name_f]Sparrow[/name_f] - Once knew a mother who named her daughter [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f]. I think it’s a nice nature inspired name.

[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] - [name_m]Okey[/name_m]

[name_u]Holland[/name_u] - like [name_u]Tennessee[/name_u]

Bohanen - Seems made up

[name_u]Courtland[/name_u] - Not my style but I could picture someone being named [name_u]Courtland[/name_u].

Gatlin - don’t like it

These are all really interesting names that I don’t think work out in real life, but are really lovely to imagine and idealize in my head.

[name_u]Tennessee[/name_u] - this boy wears carhartts and workboots but drinks tea with bourbon in it as a teenager and writes poetry in the woods. this boy does not exist.

Rockland - he either wears pale yellow shorts and pays too much for drugs in college or lives in the same imaginary world as [name_u]Tennessee[/name_u] and tops him. regardless, this feels like a mothers-maiden-namesake type of name, for sure. but I kinda like it?

[name_f]Cypress[/name_f] - tinder bio looks like this: ‘vegan. poly.’ he has a manbun and, frankly, probably named himself that.

[name_u]Langley[/name_u] - definitely pays too much for drugs in college.

[name_f]Sparrow[/name_f] - a girl, right? she goes by [name_f]Ro[/name_f] and charges Rockland and [name_u]Langley[/name_u] too much for drugs in college. she’s a badass and i love her.

[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] - this name has a black and white hollywood feel to it, yet I can see her being goth. probably the second most versatile name on the list besides [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f], who very well might be a bookworm and not a badass.

[name_u]Holland[/name_u] - i cant not think of the newest spiderman. im sorry. i can’t conjure any other image but [name_m]Tom[/name_m] [name_u]Holland[/name_u].

Bohanen - this name fell down a set of stairs.

[name_u]Courtland[/name_u] - like the apple?

Gatlin - this is either the brother of [name_u]Blakely[/name_u] and Peightyn or a teen actor.

@papaya: I just have to say this might be my favorite post on all of Nameberry. I agree that [name_u]Langley[/name_u] “pays too much for drugs in college” and that [name_f]Cypress[/name_f] would be “vegan. poly.” on tinder and named himself that. This is so perfectly true lol. I would love to see more of this honest millennial energy on the forums <3

[name_u]Tennessee[/name_u], Rockland and Gatlin all have confederate flags on their pick-up truck’s rear window.
[name_f]Cypress[/name_f] and [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f] make C’s and D’s in school.
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] has a lisp.
[name_u]Holland[/name_u] is overweight.
Bohanen is incorrigible.
[name_u]Courtland[/name_u] and [name_u]Langley[/name_u] are frat bro’s accused of sexual assault and kicked out of college. Mom and Dad protest thier removal.

I like [name_u]Langley[/name_u] and [name_u]Holland[/name_u] and think they are the most usable.

[name_u]Tennessee[/name_u] I think would actually be stranger to use if you did live in Tenessee. What I mean is that most people with a state name aren’t actually named after the state, or if they are it’s because it’s where one parent grew up or something of a similar sentimental and distant nature. I’ve never met a [name_u]Dakota[/name_u] who was from [name_u]North[/name_u] or South [name_u]Dakota[/name_u], or a [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] from [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]. etc.

Rockland feels a little smushed/try hard but could be done, though would be best as a middle I think. [name_m]Rocky[/name_m], [name_m]Rocco[/name_m], [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] are all more doable first names. (And [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] feels like it fits well with some of these other names.)

[name_f]Sparrow[/name_f] and [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] are perfectly fine names. They are more commonly seen for girls but word names tend to cross the aisle more easily than others. If you were terribly concerned by that, they’d be safe names for the middle spot.

Bohanen (my phone wanted to auto correct to Bohannon) feels very cowboy. I could see Tennesee and Bohanen as brothers.

[name_u]Courtland[/name_u] is unfamiliar but accessible. A little more dressed up than your other choices ([name_u]Langley[/name_u], Tennesee, Bohanen, [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f]) but still feels very South x Southwest.

I don’t care for [name_f]Cypress[/name_f] or Gatlin. Neither have particularly nice sounds. Gatlin makes me think of the gatling gun.

[name_u]Courtland[/name_u] is my favorite!
