What do you think of these names?

Hello Berries!

I have recently devised a shortlist of names that I am contemplating to rename myself and am wondering what your thoughts are. I have brainstormed some combinations and all feedback is much appreciated!

[name]Cecily[/name] ([name]Cecily[/name] [name]Eden[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]) nn Cec
[name]Augusta[/name]
[name]Florence[/name] ([name]Florence[/name] [name]Eden[/name] [name]Hermione[/name]) nn [name]Ren[/name], [name]Flora[/name], [name]Flossie[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name] nn [name]Cora[/name]
[name]Ophelia[/name] ([name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Daisy[/name] [name]Eden[/name]) nn Phee
[name]Tabitha[/name] ([name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Florence[/name] [name]Eden[/name]) nn [name]Tibby[/name]
[name]Harriet[/name] nn [name]Hattie[/name]
[name]Rowena[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name] nn [name]Rora[/name]

[name]Cecily[/name] - This name is OK. I’m not crazy about it. It reminds me of [name]Sicily[/name].
[name]Augusta[/name] - not my style.
[name]Florence[/name] – So, I really disliked [name]Florence[/name] until recently. Seeing it excessively on the forum, is making it grow on me. I think it’s cute.
[name]Cordelia[/name]- really not my style. To clunky and I really can’t get over the first syllable- “[name]Cord[/name]”…I don’t see the appeal.
[name]Ophelia[/name]–It’s ok. I see this as an alternative to [name]Olivia[/name].
[name]Tabitha[/name]-have a bad association with this name.
[name]Harriet[/name]- [name]Love[/name] this name!! Very cute.
[name]Rowena[/name]-I pronounce this Row- when - uh because I know somebody with the name who pronounces it as such. I really REALLY love this name and was considering it for a long time.
[name]Aurora[/name]- long time favorite.

[name]Cecily[/name] nn Cec - A lovely vintage name.

[name]Augusta[/name] - I like this name - it’s serious, strong and majestic.

[name]Florence[/name] nn [name]Ren[/name], [name]Flora[/name], [name]Flossie[/name] - I like [name]Florence[/name] - it’s a solid citizen kind of name.

[name]Cordelia[/name] nn [name]Cora[/name] - A little too frilly for my taste and I don’t like the [name]Cord[/name] or the [name]Delia[/name] parts.

[name]Ophelia[/name] ([name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Daisy[/name] [name]Eden[/name]) nn Phee - Ok but not my favourite Shakespearean name.

[name]Tabitha[/name] ([name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Florence[/name] [name]Eden[/name]) nn [name]Tibby[/name] - I just think of the cute blond girl on the TV show “Bewitched” so it’s kind of dated to that period for me.

[name]Harriet[/name] nn [name]Hattie[/name] - This is a case of liking the nn [name]Hattie[/name] more than the longer form.

[name]Rowena[/name] - OK but I like [name]Rowan[/name] a bit better.

[name]Aurora[/name] nn [name]Rora[/name] - Not a fave of mine.

Faves: [name]Cecily[/name], [name]Augusta[/name] and [name]Florence[/name].

[name]Cecily[/name] - NMS
[name]Augusta[/name] - Eh, it’s ok.
[name]Florence[/name] - reminds me of [name]Florence[/name] [name]Henderson[/name]. Not good or bad, just saying.
[name]Cordelia[/name] - I can see why the appeal, but it’s not really my style.
[name]Ophelia[/name] - I like the [name]Ofelia[/name] variation, especially after seeing [name]Pan[/name]'s Labyrinth. This one’s okay.
[name]Tabitha[/name] - I like it, but don’t think I’d use it in real life. Would love to see it on someone else’s child.
[name]Harriet[/name] - seems kind of dowdy to me.
[name]Rowena[/name] - I quite like this one, really. Has an underrated feel to it.
[name]Aurora[/name] - The nickname [name]Rora[/name] is an interesting take on [name]Aurora[/name]. I like it.

Great list OP… brilliant!

[name]Cecily[/name] ([name]Cecily[/name] [name]Eden[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]) nn Cec - I prefer [name]Cecelia[/name] to be honest.
[name]Augusta[/name] - loving this name. [name]Augusta[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] is perfection
[name]Florence[/name] ([name]Florence[/name] [name]Eden[/name] [name]Hermione[/name]) nn [name]Ren[/name], [name]Flora[/name], [name]Flossie[/name] - great name and great combo
[name]Cordelia[/name] nn [name]Cora[/name] - lovely
[name]Ophelia[/name] ([name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Daisy[/name] [name]Eden[/name]) nn Phee - dont like [name]Daisy[/name] and [name]Eden[/name] - I think its the repetition of the D sound. [name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Daisy[/name] [name]Estelle[/name]?
[name]Tabitha[/name] ([name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Florence[/name] [name]Eden[/name]) nn [name]Tibby[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name]
[name]Harriet[/name] nn [name]Hattie[/name] - another fave
[name]Rowena[/name] - this name does not even compare to the others on your list
[name]Aurora[/name] nn [name]Rora[/name] - once again, a lovely name

It’s hard, cause they’re all SO good. But my top 3 are [name]Harriet[/name], [name]Tabitha[/name] and [name]Augusta[/name].

I like [name]Cecily[/name], [name]Cordelia[/name], and [name]Rowena[/name] the best.

The only one I’d avoid is [name]Ophelia[/name]. TO someone of my age, because f the SHakespearean association, it still refers to a young woman who is mentally ill.

I like [name]Augusta[/name], [name]Cordelia[/name], [name]Tabitha[/name], and [name]Aurora[/name].

[name]Cecily[/name]- love [name]Cecily[/name] and your combo, but not the nn Cec
[name]Augusta[/name]- to me, this name is homespun American meets British elegance. lovely!
[name]Florence[/name]- lovely name and interesting combo
[name]Cordelia[/name]- my favourite of your names, beautiful and strong, but [name]Cora[/name] seems a bit juvenile
[name]Ophelia[/name]- like it, but not [name]Daisy[/name] or nn Phee
[name]Tabitha[/name]- sorry, this name always makes me think of a tabby cat
[name]Harriet[/name]- nice, but not my favourite
[name]Rowena[/name]- a lot more modern than your other names, but nice
[name]Aurora[/name]- love, but don’t like [name]Rora[/name]

My favourites are [name]Cordelia[/name] and [name]Augusta[/name].

Thank you for the feedback everyone! I really do appreciate it!

emelis, while [name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Daisy[/name] [name]Estelle[/name] is lovely, the whole reason why [name]Eden[/name] is in the combo is because it’s my current middle name and I’ve decided to keep it. Thank you all the same.

I really like [name]Aurora[/name] out of your list. I’m not a fan of nicknames, however. Best of luck!

Wow - they’re all lovely - I seriously think each name is great.

My favorite is [name]Harriet[/name], with [name]Cordelia[/name] in second place, and [name]Tabitha[/name] in third.

I really like all of the names except for [name]Rowena[/name] and [name]Harriet[/name]. [name]Both[/name] seem dowdy to me.

[name]Cecily[/name] [name]Augusta[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is one of my favorite guilty pleasure names.

Out of your list, [name]Tabitha[/name] might be my favorite. Then again, when I was a freshmen in high school there was a senior named [name]Tabitha[/name]… She was sooooooo gorgeous, so the name brings a positive association. I really like the nickname [name]Tibby[/name] as well. Most will call you Tabs though

Thank you everyone!

beautiful_haiku, [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Augusta[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is gorgeous!

I really like all of the names on your list. I had trouble narrowing it down. I like…

[name]Cecily[/name] ([name]Cecily[/name] [name]Eden[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]) nn Cec - [name]Cecily[/name] is beautiful and so it this combo.

[name]Florence[/name] ([name]Florence[/name] [name]Eden[/name] [name]Hermione[/name]) nn [name]Ren[/name], [name]Flora[/name], [name]Flossie[/name] - [name]Florence[/name] is one of my favorite names. I like [name]Flora[/name] but dislike [name]Flossie[/name].

[name]Cordelia[/name] nn [name]Cora[/name] - This name is so pretty. I’m surprised it’s not more popular. I like [name]Cora[/name] but not [name]Delia[/name] as a nickname.

[name]Ophelia[/name] ([name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Daisy[/name] [name]Eden[/name]) nn Phee - I love this despite the [name]Shakespeare[/name] association. I think there is potential for teasing but a teenager or adult could handle it better than a young child.

[name]Tabitha[/name] ([name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Florence[/name] [name]Eden[/name]) nn [name]Tibby[/name] - I am really beginning to like this. I saw [name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Wren[/name] in your signature and I love it…maybe [name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Eden[/name] [name]Wren[/name]? I love [name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Florence[/name] [name]Eden[/name] too.

If it were me, I would choose something that was at least in some sense familiar or similar to my own name or nickname.
No clue what your name is, but going from [name]Ebony[/name] to [name]Eden[/name] would be a lot easier than going from [name]Ebony[/name] to [name]Florence[/name].
Going from [name]Rebecca[/name] to [name]Rowena[/name] would be easier than going from [name]Rebecca[/name] to [name]Tabitha[/name]. etc.

I also think that if you’re staying within some of the same circles (workplace/family/friends) it would probably be easier to go for something that can be simple like [name]Cora[/name] rather than something more complicated like [name]Harriet[/name]–just to cut down on the number of explanations and the time it will take people to get the hang of it.

I changed my last name almost 2 years ago and it still throws me off sometimes, so be prepared for the learning curve.

All that lecturing done  I like [name]Cordelia[/name] and [name]Tabitha[/name] the best.

[name]Cecily[/name] - i’m very “eh” about this name. [name]Don[/name]'t hate it, don’t love it.
[name]Augusta[/name]- nmsaa
[name]Florence[/name]- I don’t hate it, but I would never use it.
[name]Cordelia[/name] nn [name]Cora[/name]- very sweet
[name]Ophelia[/name] ([name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Daisy[/name] [name]Eden[/name]) - I like [name]Daisy[/name] [name]Eden[/name], [name]Ophelia[/name] not so much. Maybe as a middle, but not as a first name.
[name]Tabitha[/name] ([name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Florence[/name] [name]Eden[/name]) nn [name]Tibby[/name]- cute
[name]Harriet[/name] nn [name]Hattie[/name]- I like just [name]Hattie[/name]
[name]Rowena[/name]- I prefer [name]Rowan[/name]/[name]Rowen[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name] nn [name]Rora[/name]- Beautiful!

Thank you all once again!

watermellie, [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Augusta[/name] is absolutely beautiful! [name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Winter[/name] is stunning as well and I like [name]Rowena[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name].

evetallulah, [name]Augusta[/name] [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Wren[/name] is lovely, but I have decided to keep [name]Eden[/name] as one of my middle names. [name]Florence[/name] [name]Eden[/name] [name]Aurora[/name] is gorgeous and is now on the list, as is [name]Aurora[/name] [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Eden[/name]. All of your suggestions are gorgeous.

kala_way, thank you for that advice, I do appreciate it and I have contemplated going by [name]Eden[/name], but I have the same problems with [name]Eden[/name] as I do with [name]Ebony[/name].

And just so everyone knows, I pronounce [name]Rowena[/name] like row-een-uh, not like rowan-a.

I like [name]Cecily[/name], [name]Florence[/name] and [name]Harriet[/name].

[name]Cecily[/name] [name]Eden[/name] is lovely

I like most of the names on your list.
There is a really good point (that I probably wouldn’t have thought of) that some berries have suggested to others looking to change their names in the past. I’d choose something that could have been a viable choice when you were born. (1996 Australia right?)

I checked the top 100 names given to girls in Australia that year and not one of the ones you suggested was listed. That doesn’t mean that some aren’t great choices - and I’m sure a reason why you choose them was because they aren’t common or popular.

[name]Cecily[/name] ([name]Cecily[/name] [name]Eden[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]) nn Cec - I like [name]Cecily[/name] and think it’s a great choice. I grew up with one (though I’m a few years older) and think it would be a great option.
[name]Augusta[/name], [name]Florence[/name] and [name]Ophelia[/name] feel are just now refunding their feet (at least here in the US) and while I love them all I don’t know if they would fit in with your peers.
[name]Cordelia[/name] - [name]Buffy[/name] started airing in 1996 in the US so while [name]Cordelia[/name] is a character and could have inspired this name it would be a little ahead of it’s time. Though I wouldn’t worry about it
[name]Tabitha[/name] - This always makes me think of Bewitched ([name]Tabitha[/name] Stevens - [name]Samantha[/name]'s daughter).
[name]Harriet[/name] - The original [name]Harriet[/name] the Spy books were written in the 60s and the movie was released in 1996. I think this would be a great option as it could be viable that your parents (mother) read the books as a kid and loved the name.
[name]Rowena[/name] - I don’t know what the consensus is in Australia but for me this feels a little out of step with the time you were born in.
[name]Aurora[/name] - one of my very favorites and I actually meet and [name]Aurora[/name] who is about 3 years older than you. It’s very unique but I think since it’s ancient Greek it is a very viable possibility.
