What do you think of these names?

My boyfriend doesn’t care for my love of sea faring things so we compromised. Right now our top two options are [name_f]Taryn[/name_f] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] for a boy and [name_u]Navy[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] for a girl. We’re still not 100% sure if we are set on them but for now that’s all we agree on.

I find them unatractive

I like [name_f]Taryn[/name_f]! [name_u]Blake[/name_u] is not my style but [name_f]Taryn[/name_f] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] flows well.

I really like [name_u]Navy[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f].

If you’re looking for further inspiration, a sea-related name I recently have grown fond of is [name_m]Cove[/name_m].

I like the idea of [name_f]Taryn[/name_f] on a boy - I might use the more traditionally masculine spelling of [name_f]Taran[/name_f], though, as [name_f]Taryn[/name_f] is pretty popular for girls these days. [name_f]Taran[/name_f] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] works well I think.

I don’t like [name_u]Navy[/name_u] very well - it might just be that I haven’t mulled it over enough, but it reminds me too much of the branch of the military. I generally do like seafaring things, though, and I really like [name_f]Kate[/name_f] as the middle name, so a few suggestions:

[name_f]Coral[/name_f] or [name_f]Cora[/name_f] or [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Marina[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Summer[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]

Or [name_u]Lake[/name_u] wouldn’t work with [name_f]Kate[/name_f] as a middle name, but maybe something like [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u]?

Or, maybe your boyfriend would compromise and let you use a seafaring middle name, like [name_u]Ocean[/name_u] or [name_u]River[/name_u] or [name_u]Brook/name_u or [name_m]Cove[/name_m] or [name_u]Bay[/name_u]?

Vote for [name_u]Navy[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. There is a berry called [name_u]Navy[/name_u] here (though I haven’t seen her online in a long time) and she made me see how appealing her name is. I dislike [name_f]Taryn[/name_f] [name_u]Blake[/name_u], sorry.

[name_f]Taryn[/name_f] is just not my style at all, but it sounds okay with [name_u]Blake[/name_u] flow-wise. I do like [name_u]Navy[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f], I am a huge fan of word names. The issue I see is that the genders seem switched - [name_f]Taryn[/name_f] I would expect to see as a girls name, and [name_u]Navy[/name_u] I would peg for a boy (though I think it works fine on a girl too, I would just assume boy first). I think you should highly reconsider [name_f]Taryn[/name_f]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about a word name, like [name_m]Talon[/name_m]? [name_m]Talon[/name_m] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] would be an awesome name, and I could picture it as a brother to [name_u]Navy[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f].

[name_f]Taryn[/name_f] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] sounds completely girly to me. And I am not fond of the name [name_u]Navy[/name_u]. Both names flow well together though.

I like [name_f]Taryn[/name_f] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] a lot. I also like the idea of [name_u]Navy[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] but in the end I personally don’t think it’s great. It’s pretty high teasing potential and what if she actually wants to be in the [name_u]Navy[/name_u]? i met a nurse named Wavy which I thought was a pretty name and ages well. Or [name_f]Waverley[/name_f] nn Wavy. [name_m]Even[/name_m] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_u]Navy[/name_u] I think would be a better option imo.

I picked [name_u]Navy[/name_u] because my grandfather (who raised me) was in the [name_u]Navy[/name_u] and because it happens to be my favorite color so I’d like to use it in some way. I also just really like it. As far as [name_f]Taryn[/name_f] I’m still looking for some way to include my boyfriend without making him a Sr. at 19. Perhaps using [name_m]Jaren[/name_m] as a middle name? I also like the name [name_u]Wren[/name_u] but it’s one of those that seems impossible to find a middle name for.

[name_u]Wren[/name_u] or [name_u]Ren[/name_u] is nice, I also like [name_f]Taran[/name_f] with this spelling

[name_u]Navy[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is nice to me, if she thinks her name is too out there she has a very normal middle to fall back on

[name_f]Taryn[/name_f] is a girls name. And since [name_u]Blake[/name_u] can also be a girls name [name_f]Taryn[/name_f] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] looks like a girls name to me. [name_u]Navy[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is lovely though

I feel like any name ending in -yn is automatically very feminine, plus as far as I know, [name_f]Taryn[/name_f] is a well-established girls name. I don’t see that boding well for a boy.

I like both names for girls, though.

If it were me I’d swap the first names. Think [name_u]Navy[/name_u] is adorable for a boy and [name_f]Taryn[/name_f] is all girl for me!

Tbh just seeing the first names initially I assumed [name_f]Taryn[/name_f] was the girls name and [name_u]Navy[/name_u] was the boys name…
I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Taryn[/name_f], but I love [name_u]Navy[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_u]Blake[/name_u] (which was one of my frontrunners for a while there)

I agree with the pp I think I’d swap the first names [name_f]Taryn[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_u]Navy[/name_u] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] feel more gender fitting but these days most names are becoming unisex.

The issue with [name_u]Wren[/name_u] I find is that it’s really hard to find a middle name for it. We were even discussing maybe [name_u]Navy[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] as an option or [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f].

I find [name_f]Taryn[/name_f] difficult to spell and feminine…which isn’t awful but I’d spell it [name_f]Taran[/name_f] or [name_f]Tarin[/name_f]. [name_u]Blake[/name_u] is nice.

[name_u]Navy[/name_u] also reminds me of the military. I wish I could think of the color, but to me, it sounds like naming your kid “[name_m]Army[/name_m]” or “[name_f]Air[/name_f] Force”.

I like a lot of sea inspired names, such as [name_f]Mar[/name_f]- names ([name_f]Marisol[/name_f], [name_f]Marina[/name_f], [name_f]Marissa[/name_f]), names like [name_u]Ocean[/name_u], [name_u]Echo[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u], or color names like Azula, [name_u]Indigo[/name_u], or even [name_u]Blue[/name_u].
